Erik Morales - Another legend fighting on too long?

Most everyone knows Morales has a fight this weekend against a decent fighter in Jose Alfaro. This fight, one I think Erik will win, comes about 31 months since his competitive loss to the C+ fighter Diaz for a strap.

So to the point, what does everyone think about his comeback, will this end up like the sad way Castillo went out, or does anyone think he'll make it to another "belt" shot and maybe actually go out competitively or maybe win a belt before he finally hangs em up?

I would like to see El Terrible pull the upset (who doenst love seeing a past his prime legend get one last upset against a good/great opponent?).
But IMHO, it will be the neverending story of the old legend returning, winning a few fights (maybe against a top 20 contender or two) gets a alphabet shot, and loses yet again.

    Thoughts?

i thought erik morales won the the diaz fight TBH. not sure his comeback is a good idea as he was declining fast towards the tail end of his career. none the less i would watch the fight and wud probly welcome a 4th match with barrera altho its proberly a bad idea

Funny, I thought the same about morales' fight with diaz. And to me Morales was still himself (mentality wise) in that fight, he fought pretty hard. But it no doubt showed his age, but I dont think that loss was too embarrasing considering he was trying to get a belt in a 4th weight class.

Also, I think Barrera and Morales both have enough left, to make a fourth match entertaining.

Morales could still be a decent fighter, I don't know. I think the third Pacquiao fight just showed he didn't belong at the elites at that point and he looked terrible. However, he did seem to show he still had good legs against Diaz, so maybe he wasn't truly shot? Assuming he wasn't then, maybe he needed a good rest?

Fighters get burnt out and lose their desire quickly at times. I think part of the reason Morales looked so bad was because of this, so if he's got his fighting heart back, we may see a good run culminating in a title shot a year or so down the line.

I hope he still has something though. Despite this optimistic post, I'm not convinced but he was my favourite fighter so I'm hoping he's not done.

Can you imagine Barrera/Morales on the same card as Vazquez/Marquez? I would love that. All four guys are past it, but seemingly equally past it, if Morales can win his next fight. It would be an amazing spectacle.

I read an interview with Morales the other day, about his comeback, future plans etc.

Said all the right things, I'm coming back stronger, more determined than ever etc etc.

It was almost word-for-word what Castillo said before he got his ass kicked by Alfonso Gomez and retired.

Morales is done, he's lost 5 of his last 6 and is fighting at a weight that is stacked with talent.

I'm guessing he must be short of cash or something, sadly.

I feel the same way. Hes been doing a lot of talk lately, which to me says hes really trying to sell this next fight. I expect El Terrible to lose soundly to Alfaro.

    I dont think so.

He's a manager of a boxing stable, and I think also Mexican Lucha Libre wrestlers, if I'm not mistaken.

He's living pretty good, I bet. He's got a house in Chula Vista, San Diego(?) California, right next to the Mexico/Tijuana border.
