Barrara and his corner team did some "clasless ****" after he was knocked out by Junior Jones - It's on you Tube. Basically, Barrera gets accidently headbutted and is cut. He is then put off quite a bit and shortly knock out... As he is just counted out he trys holding on to Junior Jones leg, while his corner team jump in the ring and splash water over Junior Jones... Officially I think the fight was a disqaulification.... but either way....it shows barrera to be quite a *****. Hamed was at that fiught and said in an interview afterwards how he was suprised Barera took so many shots.
If you want a list of who EM and MAB fought you can go to boxrec.com, or you can REALLY extend yourself and look further up in this very thread. I repeat: Pac has made his entire career out of fighting HOF'ers on the downside of their careers. It's damn shameful that he will be mentioned in the same breath as the three who came before him, who cleaned out the division and fought everybody. You people keep bringing up the first MAB fight as if it somehow makes your point, but in fact it does the exact opposite. MAB had already had more of a career at that point than most fighters EVER have, and he took on Manny - just about the most dangerous fight that he could have made. Just like he's about to take on Valero. Just like he took on a prime EM. I could name 10 fighters right now from 126 to 135 that I would make 50/50 with Manny, and you will NEVER see him in the ring with any of them, or even hear him or Roach discuss the fight. They knew damn well they would never have to fight Soto, he was a bargaining chip against ODLH. If you're an up and coming fighter or a fighter at the top of his game, Pac doesn't know your name.
oh yeah, and I just love the way Manny and all you *******s show your appreciation for getting the title shot, by pissing all over MAB every chance you get. And you DARE to talk about class?
Prolly called him 'naco' or 'indio resentido' or something like that, which are pretty much like callin' somebody the 'n-word' with malice. Not very nice and arguably as bad or worse than '***' maybe depending on how close it hits to home. Basically the Mexico City vs everybody else in Mexico rivalry. Same ol' same ol'...
You're the one who seems to be always pissed off with Pac, man. As I said, I still respect and admire MAB as a great fighter. No one can deny him that. I loved his left hooks. He used it so well in EM-MAB III. Barrera was my choice to win in all 3 of his fights vs Erik. And props to Marco Antonio for giving Manny a title shot. But if I were asked who was the person I liked better between MAB and EM, I would say Morales. I never dissed MAB. I just said what I read about him and heard about him. Just my personal choice.
Nice way to change the subject. I never bashed Barrera or Morales's resumes. I was talking about your argument of Pacquiao only making a name by beating fading HOFers, and then bringing up MAB and Morales. They beat LESS HOFers, and Zaragoza was way more old than Barrera, Morales, and Marquez were when Pac beat them. Pacquiao actually wasn't viewed as the biggest threat to Barrera in November 2003. People knew he was good, but he was viewed as a smaller fighter with little experience at 126. Barrera got some criticism for fighting Tapia and Kelley in his fights following the Morales rematch, and people wanted to see a Morales-Barrera rubber match then. That was viewed as a pick-em based on the closeness of their fights, and Pacquiao was a solid underdog against MAB. JMM was viewed as a bigger threat back then to Barrera, than Pac. JMM was the one ranked as a top featherweight since 1996, who had a belt at 126, who was avoided by Naz, etc... Furthermore, Pacquiao was already a 2 division champion when he beat Barrera. Nobody pays much attention to the flyweight division, but Sasakul was highly regarded when Pacquiao beat him. Ledwaba was viewed as the 2nd best jr. featherweight in the world at the time Pac beat him, behind Ayala. Just because Pacquiao wasn't well known before beating the HOFers, doesn't mean he didn't achieve much before November 2003. Why else would YOU claim that Pacquiao was such a big threat to Barrera when they first fight, if Pacquiao was only a guy who made his career off of beating fading HOFers? And had faced no HOFers before Barrera.
I gotta admit boxing is a little less fun without that rivarly being so prevalent. The best is Barrera's prediction for Manny-Morales I, Jim Lampley says that Barrera is pulling for Morales to win because he always supports mexican fighters. Erik Morales- He's ****ing lying.
None of the four fighters, MAB, Morales, JMM, or Pac, have cleaned out a division. Cleaning out a division a rare. Morales had a nice run at 122, but never fought longtime 122 lb. champ Bungu, or any of the WBA champs either. Barrera never fought Bungu either at 126, and never fought any unification bouts until 5 years after he first won the WBO belt. Marquez couldn't clean out 126...he wasn't given enough opportunities.
you sir are a moron. pac fought barrera, marquez and morales one after the other and you question pac's heart? and pac was the first one to fight "the avoided" marquez keep that in your ******ed mind. quit with those stupid, bias and hateful comments with yours. pac has more balls than all you can have thru surgery.
:rofl I forgot about that. And yeah, I agree that's a great boxing rivaly. Who else we got for it? I can't think of anybody offhand, but I gotta' think (at the very least)that there are some prospects on the way up who might bring it back...
Don't think so, he has some issues with that guy as far as I remember and didn't like him before the fight either, it's only normal for him to act that way to avenge his brother.
Barrera also headbutted Pacman intentionally in both of their fights as he was showing signs of desperation.
Yeah, there was that whole rivalry dealing with class, Barrera being middle-class from Mexico City and Morales growing up in poverty in Tijuana. Here's some of the trash talk between the two and incidents. Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera are a different story and have a genuine dislike for each other that extends beyond the 24 rounds they fought trying to conquer each other in the ring. The animosity first surfaced when Barrera called Morales an Indian on a Mexican television station prior to their first fight in 2000. It escalated when Morales called Barrera a homosexual while promoting their rematch in 2002, which led Barrera to cold **** Morales at a later news conference in Houston. On top of that, you have two proud hall-of-fame Mexican fighters who are fighting to etch their names in history with the other all-time greats from south of the border. Fighters like Carlos Zarate, Salvador Sanchez, and Julio Caesar Chavez, just to name a few. If that wasn't enough, this past Tuesday Barrera added insult to injury when he skipped a Beverly Hills news conference promoting their upcoming rubber match. This led Morales' promoter, Bob Arum to have someone dress in a chicken suit and represent themself as Barrera during the conference. This happens to be one of the rare fights that represents everything good in boxing, and it didn't need Arum's childish stunt to hype it. http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxi...orales-marco-barrera-rivalry-resumes-tonight/ Berrera began to refer to Morales as an uneducated Indian. Morales, in a country where machismo is taken very seriously, questioned Barrera's sexual orientation. That insult led to Barrera's punching Morales at a news conference. Morales explained the very real hostility on cultural grounds. People in Mexico do not like those who are from Mexico City, he said, similar to how the rest of France regards Parisians, or how much of the United States looks at New Yorkers. ''People from Mexico City think they're better than everyone,'' Morales said. ''They have a superiority complex. If you're from Mexico City, you know it all. That's why there's an expression -- 'Kill a guy from the capital; do something good for your country.' '' http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F01E4D9103FF931A15755C0A9649C8B63
I question the heart and balls of Pac's management, and so does JMM, Valero, Soto, Guzman, Vazquez, Gamboa, Guerrero, Linares, Campbell and Juan Diaz. I won't say Casamayor because I'm pretty sure that will be Pac's next opponent after the ODLH fight, because JMM will beat enough out of Casa to make him an attractive opponent, and then he'll fight JMM because by then JMM will be 41. If you're a young, dangerous fighter Pac wants nothing to do with you. Never has. Pac may have all the balls in the world, but he's happy collecting paychecks and fighting big names past their prime, so **** him. Threadstealer, I remember when the Pac fight was made and people who knew boxing thought it was a crazy decision. Pac was widely regarded as a HUGE threat, behind only JMM and EM. Bungu wasn't considered a world-beater even though he had a belt, and by that time (if I'm not mistaken) he had already been humiliated by Naz. Other than that, they faced everyone in the division. I agree with you that JMM should have been much more involved, but I think his management had something to do with that, as well as the obvious danger in fighting him. Had JMM won his fight with Norwood, not even Nacho Beristain could have kept him out of the picture.
