How is it fathomable for so called fans of a great boxer to find ways to convince THEMSELVES that their hero might 'still have one last fight inside', 'might have gotten much needed rest,' ' Well im a fan so I will support him.' I understand the fighter himself thinking this, feeling this through and convincing himself to prepare for another go, but how is it that the fans actually support these attempts at comebacks???
god damn it, he should not be doing this. He has no business fighting at 140. And whats with the catchweight 142? Thats bad news if he doesnt believe he cant even make 140. He has no power at the higher weights, he doesnt belong there. Hes a guy who had an iron chin but was knocked out twice and lost most of his last fights. I just dont want to see it. I know he was hired by the city to run the parks program or something like that and it said he was giving back his salary so I know he is financially secure so there is no need for him to return.
You cant change yesterday.... he will always be an ATG no matter how many times he gets his ass kicked as a shot fighter.
A 4th fight with Barrera would probably still be exciting even tho both are past their best. Imagine both fighters facing off for a vacant title at 135 or 140 ?... the winner becomes the first Mexican to win titles in 4 weight classes... that would surely rekindle their passion & rivalry, even if only for one fight.
Miracles do happen at times but more often than not they dont. I`ll be rooting for him anyway, he`s my favourite fighter of my lifetime hands down, a complete warrior & excellent fighter. Go Morales !
I'd prefer Morales to stay retired and I don't like him fighting at 142. Having said that, if he sticks to fights with other shop worn guys than I don't have a problem with that. A fight with Barerra or Casamayor wouldn't be bad. Or even a fight with JMM or Hatton if one of them lose their next fights. It would be a shame if Morales gets fed to a young guy like Bradley, Valero, Khan, Peterson, etc. As long as he sticks to guys of his level than its not too bad.
Can he even make the weight? I hope he changes his mind he has nothing else to prove in this sport. Hopefully this isn't because of money I want him to enjoy his retirement with no worries financially.
Same here. The first 3 fights were absolute wars which I will never forget. Even though they are past their primes, I have no doubt that they could put on a fourth war that would also be memorable.
I've been uneasy about this ever since I first heard the comeback was official. Something told me Eril would come back though. He said in an interview that he knows his legacy is sealed and he's coming back because "I'm a fighter. Boxing is my life". As much as I wish he would stay retired, he's my second-favourite fighter of all time and as soon as the bell rings, he'll have all of my support. The man has given us all so much of himself for our entertainment - so that's the least I can give him.
