Former five time world title holder Mexican Erik Morales (50-6, 35 KOs) will take on Jorge "Hyena" Barrios of Argentina on December 18, 2010 at Caliente Racetrack in Tijuana, Mexico. In the third fight of a comeback which began in March of this year, after a two year hiatus, Morales believes Barrios will serve as an excellent measuring stick. The final details are being handled, the negotiations are closing up, said Morales in comments to Mexican news source Estadio. He wants to fight with me and it seems like an attractive fight with Hyena, he is a dangerous opponent and will help me measure where I am at since coming back. Barrios, 34 years of age, defeated Wilson Alcorro earlier this month by unanimous decision over ten rounds and will enter the ring with a record 50 wins, 35 by knock-out, 4 losses, and one draw. When Morales enters the ring against Barrios, it will be the first time in ten years since he fought before his hometown supporters. Said to have been born in a Tijuana boxing gym, Morales defeated Rodney Jones via first round knock-out back in December of 2000. Having notched victories against non-distinct opponents Jose Alfaro and Willie Limond during his comeback, Barrios presents a clear step-up in class for Morales. If victorious Morales still dreams of a fight against countrymen Juan Manuel Marquez for 2011. source
i thought barrios was in jail for that auto accident were he killed a woman or some **** right? or am i thinking or someone else.
U dont know boxing..he fought about a month ot so ago...he served only 6 months and couldnt prove he was drunk..man u suck!
I like these kind of fights for Morales at this stage in his career. These are named guys and competitive bouts on paper. Its the jump to the elite level like Marquez or Alexander that worries me for Morales. Should be a good match against Barrios. Favor Morales but Barrios could pull out the upset.
WAR MORALES!!! get that match up with JMM, I don't care Erik deserves that won last shot for everything he's given us fans over the years, I'm rooting for him and supporting this comeback, boxing is his life! ps Erik is one of the toughest mother****ers to ever step in the ring and would not of looked out of place in the 20s I think.
