Unfortunately we never got to see these 2 Mexicans legends throw down in the ring. Both in their primes I think Morales outpoints Marquez with his volume punching, that long jab and straight right hand.
Yeah prime Morales was exceptional. Barrera was his kryptonite but I still wouldn't want to live on the difference between them. Plus the Morales win over Pacquiao in the first fight was one for the ages. Even factoring in fight IV with Marquez I don't remember anyone looking better than Erik did against Manny in that fight. I'd have to lean towards Erik based on this but JMM would be a live body for sure. Two terrific fighters with skills, heart and will. Great match up!
I would have picked Morales at the time....in hindsight I think JMM would take him and his aggression would play right into Marquez’s technique and his ability to counter takes a 7-5/8-4 type of decision
I would side with Morales for a hard fought decision over 12. There would be atleast 1 knockdown though, I'm sure!
Marquez. He’s better and had a more varied offense plus would use Morales aggression against him with his counters. Marquez was faster and had better timing too.
