I'll take Morales via decision, bigger and more consistent and tough/skilled enough to take what Pintor can dish out

The Pintor from the Gomez fight gives Morales absolute HELL. Just as well schooled technically and with a raging passion in his soul.
I don't see a KO / TKO in this one. Gomez was better at stringing his punches and had more power than Morales. This Pintor would pressure Morales with that snappy jab and great parrying ability. And he's not gonna be budged IMO.
I think Lupe can grind out a decision in a war (12). Definitely over 15.

Big Morales fan here but Pintor was excellent against Gomez and had great hustle with his back to the ropes. Pintor counters Morales and edges a close and very hard fought battle by split decision.

Gomez shouldn't have hard that hard a night against Pintor, excellent fighter though he was and a favorite of mine. Gomez stopped using his feet by then and allowed himself to get tagged more than he should have. Morales didn't move much either, so would get tagged as well.

It's hard to use the first Barrera fight as too much of a template for figuring this out, though. Barrera's offense that night was based on countering the right Morales threw but he was much faster and threw more punches more furiously than Pintor most likely would. Pintor would allow more room to breathe in that regard. Not that it's a cakewalk but I just don't feel Pintor would counter as quickly or explosively as Barrera did.

Whew ! my first thought is Morales takes a split decision in a knock down drag out war.

I think Morales takes it, both had high workrate but Morales would be landing harder punches imo.
