At 1:43 Lampley shares with the audience what Morales said before the fight about fighting a fighter like Raheem. No need to Write it...JUST LISTEN!!!
Much Respect for Morales. And by the way, you'll see a familiar face around 9:02 in the video. Wonder what he was thinking?

It seems he (or rather "Master" Freddie) thought Morales was the low hanging fruit, and ripe for the picking (particularly drained to 130 lbs) after that loss, and Raheem was WAY too high up on the tree.

I commend Morales for challenging himself and admitting that it was a style he had not faced before.

But it was the Raheem fight that Erik was officially shot.

watch the fight closely. prime erik wouldnt be able to cope with that kind of style and still have trouble.

Yeah, you gotta love a fighter with that kind of attitude.

I love how Morales put one hand behind his back, in the 11 or 12, trying to draw Zahir into a brawl. Zahir didn't go for it. They didn't show this on that clip

I won 250 dollars on this fight! Then I lost it betting on the Eagles :(

I am from Philly and I knew that dude was too fast for Morales, and that he had been shop worn already.

Much respect to Morales for acting like a fighter and taking a challenge, he wasn't even punished for losing because he got the fight with Pac and Raheem didn't.

In all fairness, Pac's pathway to stardom was still developing at the time. I don't blame him for going after Morales' scalp regardless of whether Erik was washed up or not. My biggest gripe about Pac is he's STILL going after mismatches after he conquered De La Hoya. As you can see Morales didn't have a problem with fighting Raheem who was basically a no-name fighter with significant boxing skills. Promotional issues aside I don't see why Pac should not give Tim Bradley or even JMM a chance. I'll give Pac half credit for at least showing effort to make a fight with Floyd happen. Manny needs to fight a guy with at least half of his athletic skills. Until then....no soup for you!

in reality if Pac wasn't moving up to 130 for the first time ever when he fought Morales the first time and then got cut right above his eye by an accidental headbutt early in the fight on top of it, there likely wouldn't even have been a trilogy.

It was a good show from Raheem.... But...

Morales was going up a weight class and still had to try twice to make weight... I think thats cause enough for concern..

If what I said is an excuse, then saying Morales was shot in the second and third fight are excuses.

    stick with a standard.

If you're gonna minimize Pacquiao's wins over Morales because you feel that Morales was past his prime, then you should minimize Pacquiao's loss to Morales because he was moving up in weight.

    That **** works both ways.

actually that was a highly competitive bout. Pacquiao clearly lost but he didn't get "spanked thoroughly" or it would not be such a highly rated battle and there would not have been such a demand for a rematch.

Secondly, what did I say that hasn't been said in boxing 100s of times. When a fighter moves up in weight against someone who is already mature at the weight, he's at a disadvantage. The same standard applies to Pacquiao.

And also when a fighter has a cut right above his eye caused by an accidental clash of heads, then that is another hurdle to climb in the fight.

If you consider that Pacquiao lost fairly against Morales, that's fine, but you can't turn around and say that Morales didn't lose fairly to Pacquiao in the 2nd and 3rd fights.
