Erik wants to be in Manny’s corner By Abac Cordero Sunday, August 26, 2007 Erik Morales plans to root for Manny Pacquiao when the Filipino takes on Marco Antonio Barrera on Oct. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. Morales, the former three-time world champion from Tijuana, has become friends with Pacquiao since they starred in a San Miguel Beer commercial early this year. Morales and Pacquiao fought three times, and the Filipino won the classic trilogy, 2-1. He lost a bloody 12-round battle in 2005, but bounced back with two sensational knockouts over the Mexican in 2006. Morales has been to the Philippines a couple of times this year, and has endeared himself to Filipinos, including Pacquiao who once treated his ex-foe to a night of merry-making in a hotel in Manila. According to Eric Pineda, the business manager of Pacquiao, Morales has expressed his desire to visit Pacquiao when he trains in Los Angeles two weeks before the fight. Pineda said he received an e-mail from Morales who said he wanted to share some tips with Pacquiao on how to deal with Barrera, the former WBC super-featherweight champion. “Erik wants to visit Manny when he trains at the Wild Card Gym in LA, and maybe give him a tip or two on how to deal with Barrera,” said Pineda who has yet to discuss the matter with Pacquiao. “Erik also wants to be in Manny’s corner, or at least in Manny’s side, when he watches the fight in October,” added Pineda. “Obviously, Erik is rooting for Manny.” Morales and Barrera also fought thrice, and formed an unforgettable trilogy. Morales won the first fight in 2000 but Barrera won the next two in 2002 and 2004. All three fights lasted the distance. Barrera, from Guadalajara, will try to avenge a devastating 11th-round knockout loss to Pacquiao in 2003. And he needs all the support he can get to do this.
Of course Erik wants be in manny's coner to watch Barrera get beat to a plup,What a sadstic Erik is.:firedevi:
morales also mentioned that he have a couple of tips for pac when he fights barrera. morales is the more recent barrera opponent compared to pac and he could have some valuable pointers.
Wait, I thought Barrera was chilango, you know...from Mexico City and not Guadalajara. There is clearly some misinformation in that article. Besides that, darn, it sucks that EM is rooting for Pacquiao, he truly despises MAB.
Don't be surprised if Morales wants to go bareknuckle with Barrera and Pacquaio doesn't get his turn.
