It will make sense for canelo to fight the number 1 contender in may.Sulaiman already mentioned that possibility but we know he has no authority at all.
GBP is facing a serious credibility problem with Canelo's next opponent. They had lined up a fight with Cotto whos size and style plus marketability made him a good choice against Alvarez. But Cotto lost to a bigger, slicky and southpaw champ whos style and size doesn't please gbp to be Canelo's next foe.
Pression is on gbp because is they duck Trout , who are they gonna pick? Another welter? ( the press and fans are already questioning Canelo's level of opposition ) a shot, old fighter?...
I always thought they are going to go after angulo who came out of a long lay off while serving in jail, but angulo recently ruled it out.JK hasn't recovered and still in legal fights,Vanes walked away,Molina just fought,Rosado the same reason,Ishida fighting soon...who then?
Common sense says must be Lara...but will gbp take that chance?

When Lara lets his hands go I really like him but he fought weird vs Vanes (certainly for the first half of the fight)

I'd certainly be happy to see him get his shot!

But I doubt GBP take the risk......

Trout/Lara/Angulo **** it, Just set the Danm fight already.
My preference would be Trout but lets see what GBP gives us.

I agree he was too cautious against vanes for the first 5 rds.
But maybe that factor will help to make the Canelo fight since Trout looked better against Cotto. Between Lara and trout maybe gbp sees less risk against Lara. No doubt Angulo would be the safest choice. If they get another welter even Doc will drop his support for Canelo ...

Canelo needs to fight either Trout, Lara, Vanes or Angulo.

Only acceptable names if you ask me. Do I think he is ready for all of them. Maybe. He is only 22 but that is the burden that has been put on GBP for making him pick up that title. I still dont see any of the 4 names above being that good though that they would blitz Canelo. If anything I would make him a favorite against all and 50-50 against Trout. We just have not seen Canelo face anyone on that level yet.

He seriously needs to step up. He's had enough soft touches. I know the last one wasn't his fault due to all the weird and unfortunate circumstances, but it's definitely time to pick it up!

there is much less risk with lara as erislandry has shown to come up short on big fights(molina, vanes) whereas trout has not.

also, i think that dlh knows that trout is pretty adamant on his belief that he will expose canelo because he didnt wait until the post fight press conference after his biggest win to publically call out canelo.

he knew that he was going to beat cotto, he knew that canelo was in attendance, and he knew that he was going to call out canelo in the ring before he won the fight.

this is not the behavior of a fighter, undefeated at that, who has not broken down the film and knows for certain that he wont win.

dlh does not want trout and are now angling for lara as the public wont buy a lessor caliber opponent. because as you say, when die hard fans like Doc throw in their support the facade is over.

    lara/trout/canelo-may 4.

how was it not his fault?

he couldve fought vanes, lara, rosado, molina or k9.

    enough with this bull****.

the lopez/canelo fight was wrong on all levels.

    and everyone knows it.

You must be heavily drunk if you think Canelo would fight Lara on an undercard. Lara would destroy Alvarez, don't expect this fight to happen till Alvarez secures one big payday and loses the 0.

Why would he bother and risk it all when a major payday is already in plan for him?

    only 22?

the age card again i see.

heres what a real young champion looks like.
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=455859&cat=boxer

including his title shot, broners last eight opponents previous three fight record is a perfect 24-0

    canelo's previous five 10-15

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=348759&cat=boxer

and adrian broner is just one year older than saul alvarez and with 16 less fights.

btw, an angulo defense is pure garbage as he is coming off a tko loss and seven months in jail.

lara or trout on may 4 or canelo is unequivocally the biggest ***** in boxing.

Vanes is out of the question since he walked away from Lara and he's fighting next in Asia . I'm sure gbp would rather to get angulo but I read el perro says he's not considering canelo for may ( wich I doubt if gbp offers him good money).
That leaves only Lara and Trout.Lara is an easy fight to make since is a gbp fighter and looked less dangerous than Trout on his last fight.

Here is what I have to say about your Broner comparison.

    HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You have got to be joking me comparing the 2 here as if one has the edge on the other.

Broner's best opponent to date is PDL and he arguably lost to him. HBO and alot of the fans thought so. His resume is as bad or maybe even worse than Canelo's. Canelo at least fought Vasquez twice already, Mosley, Baldomir, Cintron, Rhodes and Gomez.

Yea that actually looks better than anything Broner has so far.

What other champion right now that is 22 has a better resume. Please tell me.
