i can tell you have never seen him fight, have you?

boone is a real tough nut. knocked andre ward hard, got robbed against lejuan simon, trains with pavlik, should of been a draw for the vera fight and craig mcewan looked like gash

awkward style and a good operator. conditioning usully gets to him but a tough chin and solid enough defence

lara i think will outbox him but it should go the distance and boone should win a round or 2.

He's a journeyman fighter that will go rounds with you... And has the ability to upset fighters.... particularly unbeatens similar to Lara... this is a good step up fight for him.... If Lara can decisively win, score a stoppage, it'lll be a big statement...

For Lara's seventh pro fight Boone is a very good test. Lara should beat him but Boone will make him work for it. Good match making by team Lara and I'm actually looking foward to this fight.

Boone seems like he does just enough to not win, but anyone whose consistently competitive with the names on his resume needs to be completely respected and Lara will have to be focused to win. When people bring up "journeyman" or "gatekeeper", that's what he is in the positive sense of those words. This is a good litmus test for the young prospect.

I'm going to see this fight in Vegas. It should be a good one. A year from now Lara will be champ.

Out of all the higher weight Cuban prospects, Lara's my favorite of the bunch. He's got a very bright future ahead of him as long as he maintains his focus and dedication.

Definitely. We hear a lot about Gamboa and Rignondeaux, but what I like about Lara is he's a patient fighter (unlike Gamboa), but not passive. Lara appears to sit on his punches very well - he doesn't waste a lot of punches to the head and he mixes his attack to the body. I like that in a fighter. He's not as fast and Gamboa or Rigo, but he has enough speed to counter any fighter in the division. With the exception of Paul Williams and James Kirkland (if Kirk ever comes back) Lara is on the level with any fighter @154.

I agree with you- the patience and punch selection he displays is outstanding for a fighter with as few pro fights as he's got. That the action seems to come that slow to him in the ring means he's still got room to improve against a higher class of opponent and should mean he can develop into a damned good counterpuncher.

The next matchup is a great set up fight for him to gauge where he's at in his development; should Lara look good this week, he should think about taking on a limited slugger type (like a Brian Vera) to see how he handles the pressure. He gets past that, and he'll be ready to start thinking about working towards a title eliminator. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself before he actually does those things, but I still like him as one of boxing's best prospects. Lord knows 154 could use some fresh blood that actually wants to fight. :thumbsup

I can see Lara winning by decision.
