Surely this thread is a joke?! He's yet another Cuban failure. Cuban boxers are **** in the pros, they lose in all their big fights, they need to stick to playing tag in the amateurs.

I didn't know anyone was even considering this possibility. And, honestly, not trying to be a jerk for lolz. I just am genuinely surprised.

No. He is good to have on a resume, though

He shouldn’t make it in but they have a very low bar for getting into HOF.

He was robbed against Williams I consider that a W there's no perceivable way anyone could score that for Williams kind of like Lewis vs Holyfield 1.

The Canelo fight I had a draw and I would say overall more fans probably think Lara won it than lost it.

But what is even the criteria for Hall of Fame anymore ? I've seen a few entries that have made me scratch my head.

Officially Lara doesn't have any standout wins but everyone considers the Williams fight a robbery and whilst Canelo fight is debatable as I said earlier more fans think he won it than lost it.

So taking that all into account he could get in but in regards to his official record I don't think he has the resume for Hall of Fame.

Even had it not as of @Flo_Raiden posting the OP a couple of weeks after the Hurd loss in April of 2018, certainly by now I think we can say that Lara's résumé (with the addition of a Castaño draw and victories over Ramón Álvarez, Greg Vendetti, Thomas LaManna, Gary O'Sullivan, Michael Zerafa, and Daniel Óscar García) has nosed comfortably ahead of a Gatti's, for what that's worth. Not with any singular blockbuster results but with a steady parade of decent ones. One more title reign than Thunder as well, with twice as many defenses total (ten versus five)

The big reason Gatti got in though was not so much his resume it was because he gave us some of the most memorable fights of the last 100 years that will still be talked about long after we're gone.

Lara doesn't really have that on his side.

I would also say Gatti's two wins over Tracy Harris Patterson are pretty good wins Patterson beat Daniel Zaragoza twice.

I'm still on the fence with this, personally. Better to give it a few years to see how Lara's career looks after he retires. With some of the fighters that the IBHOF have brought in over the years I wouldn't be surprised if Lara's name is at least on the ballot.

Gatti is someone that doesn't have the resume that's HOF worthy but his famous fights has helped him get in. Really not sure how that would be for Lara given how polarizing a fighter he is amongst boxing fans. His fights are notoriously boring (save for Angulo and Hurd fights) but hardcore fans do appreciate his boxing skills.

He’s earned a rematch with Canelo at 168 if he’s willing to make the jump.

To be really honest probably not. He was kind of avoided by the top fighters sometimes I feel. The sort of boxer that you can beat and still look bad while winning.
