Lara looked very slow, lack of combination, lack of power and technique in his latest fight. Instead of making progress like his fellow Cuban boxer: Gamboa, he is in complete involution in pro boxing. His left hand is being used with no power at all. His combination are very poor. Aggressiveness is almost absent. Etc,etc...I'm sorry for you my Cuban brother. If they don't show you the way there will be no Championship for you any time soon.

I think that you are mistaken. I also think that your are under rating the win over Brewer. Lara is by no means the finished product. However, he fought Grady Brewer the right way. Onolunose and Thompson, both undefeated prospects, got to aggressive to soon against Brewer, and got knocked out early. Lara fought Grady the right way, and racked up a good win over the best pro he has faced to date.

Lara needs another 3-4 fights against guys of about the same calibre as Brewer, and then he might be ready to make his move.

Mr. SoyCubanito, you are totally wrong! I think that a lot of us Cubans and fans in general after watching Gamboa's lighting speed, combos and overall performance against Mtagwa were left very impressed. Then, watching Lara to me too he seemed kinda slow and simple but by no means he is. I recommend that you watch the fight again as I did, and you will see how intelligently Erislandy fought Brewer.

Lara was kind of cautious, but he demonstrated that he can box, dodge, take a good hit, counterpunch and finish the job with his power. He actually looked more " professional " last night, he looked more polished than before. Now, if you compare him with El Ciclon Gamboa then of course he will look " slow and powerless " but then again, all boxers with very few exceptions will look like that when compared to Gamboa! Gamboa is in a galaxy of his own!!!

Erislandy is tough, very strong, very intelligent, very experienced, is a southpaw, World Amateur Champ, throws very good combos and has excellent ring knowledge, he may not be at Yuriorkis' level but then again, no one is...

Lara still needs to develop a little more but even as of right now he is more than capable of defeating the best at 154lbs. If he develops more ( which he will ) then he will not only be a World Champ but a " dominant World Champ "!!! :good

I understand your post Lara is clearly a smart fighter. However, in that last fight he seemed too tentative! The most important thing here is that he prefers a slower pace and likes to pick his spots. However, his style obviously will cost him fans. What I saw in the fight was a talented fighter that does not like to take risks even calculated ones. I see him struggling with a legitimate pressure fighter, someone who forces him to react quickly to the stresses of a steady attack. It may have been just this fight and it is still too early in his career to really judge him, but I will say the fight was a bore and hard to watch.

I think you are leaving out an important point. FIVE of the undefeated prospects who got aggressive and took big risks against Brewer either got knocked out or soundly trounced. Grady would have been more than happy to sit back and play the counter punching spoiler against an aggressive Lara.

He might not be as physically gifted, but I honestly think Lara is technically superior to Gamboa.

Lara fought a very smart fight, especially considering it was only his 10th pro bout.

Ok guys.....I see you like Lara the same way I do but we have to demand more of a fighter that now is a pro and fighting pro fighter. Look at the way Lara is technically is performing. His left hand is being mishandled...No power on it. His jab is harmless only used to tell his opponent that the straight right is coming after it. His right hand is not being thrown properly, not straight enough, instead over his elbow. The guy is not only not taking the lead on the attack but also not combining and being extra cautious to the point of not attacking at all. Lara is struggling to fight on the inside, he needs to learn this aspect. You ...try to look critically at these aspects and don't stay at the level of a mere observers. Lara in this way won't be ready to fight for the championship. I am a Cuban....I grew up in a Boxing Gym in Veguita de Galo, Santiago de Cuba...and I trust what I see. Lara has a lot..a lot of work to do...!
