Second is the division is stacked at the moment with a bunch of young guys (Hurd, Castano , Charlo , Mungia ) all of these guys have future plans at 160 as well they are young and still have time to give the fans more enjoyful fights in the future. 3 what is lara gonna do if he becomes champion again Hurd won't rematch him Charlo wants nothing to do lara .Lara has a possible fight against Brian Castano in November or December . Usually when a quality fighter is on the slide and at the end of his career he tends to make the biggest paydays. Cashing out if you will. Lara didn't have his big payday yet, so he has to actively start looking for it instead of retiring now.
If his financial situation is tenable going forward I'd rather see him skip that last payday hunt. I don't want to see any (more) guys that don't really deserve it adding his name onto their reusme...

My point is that he can make a killing in a single fight (which he obviously is going to lose) and ride into the sunset.
