Erislandy Lara should retire already hes not the same fighter he use to be . One of the reasons Lara should retire is because his legs are no longer there. When he fought hurd lara was to stationary . Lara couldn't dance around like hes use to . Second is the division is stacked at the moment with a bunch of young guys (Hurd, Castano , Charlo , Mungia ) all of these guys have future plans at 160 as well they are young and still have time to give the fans more enjoyful fights in the future. 3 what is lara gonna do if he becomes champion again Hurd won't rematch him Charlo wants nothing to do lara .Lara has a possible fight against Brian Castano in November or December . Should Lara should he still stay in the division ? What are your thoughts is Lara on the slide is he done for ? Please give me your thoughts
Usually when a quality fighter is on the slide and at the end of his career he tends to make the biggest paydays. Cashing out if you will. Lara didn't have his big payday yet, so he has to actively start looking for it instead of retiring now.
If his financial situation is tenable going forward I'd rather see him skip that last payday hunt. I don't want to see any (more) guys that don't really deserve it adding his name onto their reusme...
Lara has made some good money the last 4 years. Hurd - 1m Alvarez - 1m Smith - 300k Foreman - 500k Gausha - 700k
My point is that he can make a killing in a single fight (which he obviously is going to lose) and ride into the sunset.
Brook turned down a fight against somebody else nobody has ever heard of on the Joshua undercard because he's only interested in big fights now, and Lara is a no mark himself who could fit all his fans in a phonebox and have enough room for a game of twister. He needs to follow Paulie's example and beg Eddie, cap in hand, for a last payday against Eggington on the undercard of Bellew's next fight.
