Why do you say that about Dorticos? I saw glimpses of him in his debut and he looked very good to me. He is very tall, southpaw with good reach and power, plus he is a Junior World Amateur Champ... :think

Hi Rickey, I do understand your points. Boxing in many countries is indeed participated by the poor and by the uneducated but in Cuba it's a little different. A lot of the Cubans who enter the very tough sport of boxing believe it or not they do it for the love of it. Yes, many do it in order to have a better life for them and their families back in Cuba and also to have the proviledge of traveling outside and returning home loaded with daily necesities that no one in Cuba has. Still, it takes much desire and dedication to be a boxer specially in Cuba where they don't get any " millions of dollars " nor a luxury lifestyles and they still do it and get involved in boxing. A lot of it has to do with the race, yes the race. Almost every Afro-Cuban kid in the island spends all his life fighting in the streets and when he grows up the Cuban scouts recruit him for Cuba's sports programs and they do it very gladly.

It's a sport rooted very deeply in Cuba along with Baseball just like PR probably even more as PR plays a lot of Basketball which the Cubans are not fond of. Believe it or not, Cubans on the Island do have many choices like the Medicine field, ( Cubans have a huge amount of good Doctors all across the globe ), and in sports they actually participate in almost all sports like Baseball, Boxing, Table Tennis, Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Weightlifting, Judo, Track and Field, Volleyball, Handball, Karate, Taek Won Do, Wrestling, Gymnastics, fencing etc etc. The Cuban atheletes participate in almost all Olympic events!!!

It's actually very important for the Cuban people and boxers that their professional boxers make it big because a lot of the people are always " doubting " them all the time saying that they are only good for the amateurs and that they defeat young kids etc etc etc...

Since almost every boxing Country has gone ahead of Cuba in professional boxing and professional sports ( Castro's fault ), now we have to demonstrate that we can do it and that we can also surpass the World's expectations placed on Cuban athletes! That's all, we have a lot to demonstrate and to accomplish in pro boxing, so that every one can finally see that the Cubans are for real...

Boxing is an extremely tough sport bro, and it does'nt matter if you are from PR, Cuba, Mexico or any other Country, every person who decides to enter the ring, put the gloves on and become a boxer deserves much respect and great admiration!

I know that we sometimes sound very " cocky " and I do apologize for that but we do it because we are very passionate and we don't mean any harm! And when all comes down to it, it's all God's glory not ours or anyone's elses as from Him comes all good things, power and Glory!!!

    God Bless... :good
