Erislandy Lara vs Paul Williams next Saturday, official thread !!!

I would like to see Lara win this fight in convincing fashion. He would become my avatar if he does so. I just really like his boxing style. Pure boxer-puncher.

 

I was gonna stay away from betting since the damn Copa America drained my bodog account. But odds on Lara to win by KO are 4-1.

I might have to put a bill on it.

I don't know much about Lara, but PDub is a handful for anyone. I'll go with PDub on points.

 

Lara is southpaw, both of Williams losses were against southpaws

 

All you need to know about Lara is he has great timing. Great boxing skills and a wicked straight left. He is basically a super version of Quintana. Very similar style actually.

The thing that makes this fight so interesting is Lara has no inside game.

So if PW can keep it on the inside long enough he should be able to stop Lara but the problem is PW will be throwing too much leather to stay inside which will leave him defenseless and a guy with Laras countering abilities should take advantage of it.

Look for a counter straight left to end the night for PW. Similar to the Martinez KO.

We have seen everything there is to know about P Will. Lara didn't look to good aganist Molina. I'm looking for Paul to shoot nonstop and keep him at bay. TKO late rounds or decision win. Could be a ugly fight.

Very true and since Lara is from the Cuban boxing schools I am very sure that he has fought countless of tall southpaws like Williams.

A very interesting fight. Williams is an odd package to deal with. He is so skinny from the knees down but what he's missing there seems to be in his shoulders - which are swinging to long-ass arms.. There's no shame in being bested by Sergio at this point. I haven't seen much of Lara

 

martinez has way more power and precision than lara. williams will be too much for him.
