''Classy'' Chris Gray 11 wins (1 by KO) 7 defeats (2 by KO) 0 draws http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=242109&cat=boxer Lara KO 1RD.
Gray's record might not look very good, but he has wins over Carson Jones and Gabriel Rosado so this is a real good step up for Lara and if he does manage to stop Gray(especially in the first) it will be very impressive.
Ya he was the 4th Cuban to join Ahmet Oner's stable of Odlanier Solis, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy. He's looked very promising, and was used as a sparring partner for Ricky Hatton in preparation for the fight coming up with Pacquiao.
Gotta say if Kirkland-Walker is truly off, this GBP/Top Rank collab is beginning to look an awful lot like last years: A great eye catching main event in Pac/Hatton 3 showcase fights that might not make it a combined 10 minutes in Gaudet/Soto, Lara/Chris Gray and Korobov/The guy Lara KO'd on ESPN a few months back. Here's hoping Kirkland/Walker can make it to the show or they find a decent fill in as soon as possible.
I like Lara, he's very technically advanced, has a decent chin from what I have seen so far, and he looks like championship material. He may be the best of the bunch from Cuba.
how did the hatton-lara sparring go? i read on another thread that he almost sparked hatton out, which wont surprise me. when i first heard hatton was sparring with lara, i was like 'woah' simply becos of lara's talent and size difference compared to hatton.
lara is so patient and cautious in his offense.. maybe he is really looking for a title shot next year
