Antonio Moscatiello vs. Konstantins Sakara, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

Sakara is the taller Euro-looking fellow with the buzzcut. Latvian journeyman with twice as many L's as W's on his record.

Moscatiello is the tatted baldy. Local prospect on the mend coming off a kayo loss (the first of his career) to Euro champ Lenny Bundu.

 

Round 1

Moscatiello presses into Sakara, down he goes, slip. Moscatiello is hooking hard with his left, doubling up. Sakara backs up and catches the hooks on his gloves, trying to line up a 1-2 to the shiny dome. Moscatiello is moving his head, keeping a low center of balance, almost Tyson-like on his march. Big hooks by Moscatiello, loading up. Sakara again plants his feet and looks for a counter 1-2 but Moscatiello is able to time a BIG HOOK, heel of his palm striking Sakara on the temple in a downward chop. Down goes Sakara in a heap. Up at the count of four. Moscatiello moves in, and the bell sounds.

This is pretty cool so far. I smell a KO for Moscatiello around the fifth.

 

Round 2

Sakara stands in and drops clumps of short left and right whirlwind combos into the guard, then quickly prancing off before Moscatiello can establish a rhythm whipping out his powerful hooks up top. Moscatiello is coming forward, following Sakara in straight lines without really cutting the ring off but applying constant pressure. Sakara jabs at the body crouching down, then the head springing up, back nearly to the ropes. Sakara uses the full ring. Moscatiello moves in, hooks him in the kidney, then up to the ear. BIG shots by Moscatiello. Left hook downstairs, looping right up high. Sakara is moved back. Weak 1-2 to the guard by Sakara, pushing his punches on the back foot and not slowing Moscatiello.

Round 3

Moscatiello is jumping along after Sakara, blocking the weak 1-2's sent out as deterrents. Sakara is pushed to the ropes and shakes out a long jab, jelly-elbowed. Moscatiello whips big hooks past the jab but isn't close enough to score. Moscatiello bobs side to side on the way in, trying to work his way up from body to head. It works. BIG looping right dings Sakara by the left ear and gets him quickly sliding away from the ropes. Moscatiello keeps bulling in and jabbing up top looking for a home for his right hand. Back to body shots, as Sakara drops his soft maracas 1-2. Shot at the bell, may have been low, Sakara on his knees in pain with no count being given before rising and proceeding to his corner.

Round 4

Sakara takes a jab and turns his back on Moscatiello, walking away and glancing back over his shoulder at him. Looping right by Moscatiello. Sakara stands a few feet out and whips in with long loose-armed lefts and rights. Moscatiello just stands and blocks. Moscatiello presses Sakara nearly into the ropes, head to chest, and the ref has to move in with the spatula. Sakara may have a cut under his eye, not sure if from a butt or punch. Moscatiello is chasing Sakara all around the ring, leaping side to side as Sakara looks for quick bolting escapes in either direction. Not much action, just a chess game for ring control. Sakara slaps at Moscatiello's head with his left, almost open-handed while turning him toward and navigating off the ropes. Moscatiello jabs out hard, clipping Sakara in the face past his guard. Moscatiello pecks him in the body with another jab. They scrap together and Sakara slaps at his upper back.

Round 5

Sakara is ducking and rolling on the outside, making Moscatiello really hustle to get to him and then expend energy with missed shots fishing low for his head on the dip. Sakara is slapping him with jabs and rights, mostly hitting guard but managing to outwork him up close during the brief moments of proximity. Sakara running, drawing Moscatiello to the ropes and scoring with right hands over the top behind a weak double jab.

...or, au contraire, Sakara will really step up his D in the fifth and actually take the frame. :!:

 

Round 6

Moscatiello is charging in, loading up his right hand and shooting it out as a rocket from his hip. Sakara is flat out running around the ring. A few wavy left jabs from Sakara, backing up and caressing Moscatiello on the gloves and tip of the forehead from a safe distance. Moscatiello jumps in and clobbers the body with both hands, almost pinning Sakara. 1-2 by Sakara, rolling his head back from a Moscatiello hook and dashing off to the side. NICE flush right hand by Sakara, landing with a loud pop on the eye of Moscatiello! Ouch! Moscatiello is mad but unable to find a way to be any more effective than he's been dealing with Sakara's movement. Just coming forward faster, but throwing the same shots or blocking Sakara's slaps. Sakara ducks a jab, moves in to clinch, and taps the body. Sakara ducks a big Moscatiello right.

Not enough body shots from Moscatiello to tip that one his way. Moot point, though.
