He's #1 K1 atg...maybe Schilt will/already has surpassed him. And Aerts is up there too...**** the Dutch are good at Muay Thai

He is up there but i never saw him as dominant.

Full Muay thai gets included and you are looking at a very long list.

Hoost is a K1 legend...I don't think he's the ultimate # 1 ever in K1 though. But he's in the Top 3 atg imo. (i'm of course just talking about the hw division)...
So i'll vote for "top 3 best"

Not sure why this is in the MMA section, although I guess there is no where else for it.

Aerts and Hoost were neck and neck for years, the difference being two things: Ernestos 2002 WGP win and Aerts much longer career. However, the 2002 WGP really was gifted to Hoost as he lost in the earlier rounds to Sapp. So if you discount that, and then look to see how far Aerts went, competing with the best til this day, to me it makes it clear who number one is.

    1)Aerts
    2)Hoost
    3)Schilt

The reason I have Aerts above Schilt is because he is 3-2 against him, afterall. With two of the wins coming at age 38 +. Clear indication of who the better fighter is imo.

If I had to do the rest of my top ten it would look like this

    4- Remy Bonjasky
    5- Jerome LeBanner
    6 - Andy Hug
    7- Branko Cikatic
    8- Mark Hunt
    9- Badr Hari
    10- Stefan Leko / Ignashov / Sefo

However it is my opinion Hari is the biggest talent, and if he gets his act together he can become the greatest.

yea but in terms of striking and personality he's peoples champ therefore he doesnt give a f***ck what he does in case of remy and hedsy gerges he could have killed them all.... but he went crazy he shouldve won k1 2009, 2010 and retained his hw champ on "IT'S SHOWTIME" Anyway thats my opinion.

first off good post and also I those hl vids were very good as well. :happy

Not sure why this is in the MMA section, although I guess there is no where else for it.[/quote]

This is the only place for this kind of disscussion on this forum, we have been discussing Muaythai/kickboxing here for some time. if the thread was created anywhere else on ESB forums it would be moved here by the mods anyway.

    Just so you know why.

First off, I am not trying to nitpick. I am just interested.

I wonder why you have Hoost as #2 ahead of #3 shilt and #7 Branko and you dont even include guys like Rob Kaman, Thériault, Rick Rufus, Don Wilson, dekkers, Masato, souwer ect?(It seems that your rankings are only among k-1 heavys? If which is ok.)

I find it interesting when ranking Hoost people tend to prioritise his 4 K-1 gp titles very highly, which is fine. but remember their is a luck of the draw factor in a GP title. what I mean is if Hoost had faced certain opponents such as Cikatic, Rob Kaman, what then.

for example in the K-1 Grand Prix '97 Final Tournament if hoost would have been matched against Cikatic in the first round how would that have turned out?

Im not saying Cikatic would have beaten hoost without a doubt but that would have been a bad draw for hoost, the tournament would have gone differently, is my only point.

Overeem won the 2010 Gp and he deserves credit but if the matchups were different than it would have been a whole different tournament. Overeems victories over saki and Aerts in that tournament were legit as it was a tourney but it has little baring on if Overeem is a better kickboxer than Saki or Aerts because they were far from 100% when they fought Alistair. while Overeem was practically fresh.

As you probably already know without reading my rants tournament titles are not always created equal. its who you fight, when you fight them, and what you have to go through to win it.

Keeping that in mind is hoosts 4 GP titles better than Shilts? Is it better than Bonjasky's 3?

Then again perhaps this is not the reason you rank him so highly at all.
