No way. Hoost couldn't handle Bob Sapp. No way he beats Tyson. Hoost was a great champion, and only Rob Kaman has been as good at that weight, but he had some weaknesses. Big guys with lots of power like Sapp would overpower him. Sapp was just a big dumb muscle with no skills. He wasn't even really throwing punches the whole time when he clubbed Sapp down in their fights. There was absolutely no technique to it. Tyson had the strength of Sapp but matched with an awesome technique, ridiculous speed, and much better stamina.

Some people think that a boxer would have his legs kicked out from under him before he could knock out a kickboxer. I think that depends on how aggressive the boxer is being, and the more defensive, dancing type of fighters would probably suffer that fate. But swarmers like Tyson would beat hell out of these guys in close, and since their boxing skills are largely secondary to their kicking skills, he would get the better of them inside.

I think Mike Tyson could be just as effective as a kickboxer if he fought like Mike Zambidis who's a miniature kickboxing version of him with 153 wins 23 losses and 86 knockouts.

Hoost is capable of breaking arms, etc. when those are used to block his kicks. Anyone remember the K-1 where Hoost broke multiple guys bones in one night?

Hoost makes PROFESSIONAL KICKBOXERS QUIT because of leg-kicks, yet Mike will take a few?:lol::lol::lol:

Hoost would kick Mike's head off his shoulders under any rules that aren't pure Boxing (clearly).

BTW, the Sapp that Hoost fought was a ****ING MONSTER!

Look what he did to Nog! Powerbombed the mother****er!

Sapp gave ZERO ****s. You think he wouldn't have put Mike away if Douglas could? Come on!

In kickboxing Hoost would smash mike. He'd make him quit from leg kicks like Takada did to Berbick.

Lads lads...Hoost's base is MT...he has the height of a knee specialist...iron mike is tailored made for knees...he lunges and comes in low...easy pickings for a taller guy with good knees and clinching skills.

Multiple ways for hoist to give mike agro. He could tie mike up, pull him into the clinch and work him with knees, time him with straight knees, every time iron mike puts he's weight on his front foot he gets punished with a low kick not to mention the punishment his arms would take from Hoost's shins. As he wouldn't know how to defend...from the clinch he could launch some punishing elbows...etc

By the way he was a top fighter with a deep mt record long before k1 came around.

Hoost was ancient in KB or MT years by time he fought Sapp.

Tyson knocks him out. The golden era of K-1 was a lot of fun but the talent pool was small and a lot of chiny guys, and that's at the sports peak...that's just my personal opinion as a fan.

But i'd have loved to see it.

Are you saying that Sapp would KO Tyson? :patsch

'prime' Sapp didn't accomplish anything aside from beating Hoost. Tyson would have taught Sapp to embrace losing with the first good punch landed, basically what Cro Cop did to him only one year into his pro career.

The fact that Hoost lost to a rookie toughman competitor is hard to comprehend (for the GOAT) or defend in terms of legacy.

    "UFC types" lol

    Dummy

Tough question. Hoost was a very non-violent kickboxer in the sense that he liked rhythmic fights, not being bumrushed. He could have kicked Tyson's legs apart effortlessly (ala Ignashov vs Williams) except for the fact that Hoost hated being swarmed and embarrassingly lost to Bob Sapp, who was effectively just a 300 pound pile of meat running in your general direction.

If Tyson came straight out of his boxing career and fought Hoost, Hoost could be confident that Tyson would not know how to protect his legs and would stop Tyson in a round or two.

If Tyson sparred seriously with kickboxers and learned how drastically different the footwork is, abandoned his bobbing/weaving style (doesn't work in kickboxing because putting that much weight on your front ankle and your head that low in a kickboxing match is suicide) and just went in for the kill, he could probably bully Hoost into a KO victory like LeBanner did.
