Example duly noted. But if Morrison had fought that match like an actual "puncher" which he usually was instead of running from Foreman, the said result probably would have occurred.
I don't think either of those guys really had weak chins.. Sure they were both stopped in one way or another at some point but both also took some very hard shots from several big punchers
Lewis moreso. I don't think Lewis had a poor chin, maybe poor concentration sometimes (which cost him twice).
Yeah in both instances he was against guys who could crack and both times with a complacent attitude. The McCall fight was also arguably stopped early.. He rose to his feet with only two seconds left in the round or something. Lewis took hard shots from Vitali Klitscko, Gary Mason, Tommy Morrison, Shanon Briggs, David tua and others.. other guys like Ruddock, Golata and Grant never had much of a chance to hit him with anything.
Ernie had some bad losses, whereas Ike, not so much. Ike had about ~30lb on Ernie. I'll take Ike, seems fairly obvious.
I go with Ike in 5 or 6 rounds. The Lyle ****ogy doesn't fit, Shavers almost killed Lyle with a left hook early in their fight. Lyle survived because it happened a few seconds before the bell.
What fight showed that Shavers can hang with a monster like Ike? He was about 40 lbs heavier and had a great chin. I'll be honest, I have only watched what's available on youtube for my boxing history.
I rate Shavers te hardest bpuncher of al time, as so many opponents confirmed. Thouh it is possible some SHW hit harder, I see no evidence for it. That is entirely distinct from overall abilities or how often or cleanly oe can land. Ike was excellent at his best, I do not see him as severely ovrrated. He seemed to have all the tools, & whi;e mpt as tested as some. at his peak I believe was around lower ATG ability. WHy is Tua called esentially dead in their fight? He helped combiine for most punches ever in a HW fight, & just over 12 rounds. Ike's boxing ability & chin have him taking out Shaver's by the middle rounds.
