i think shavers could knock him down...not hurt him just pure wieght of the punch push him down.

but i have to think on terms of power mcCall has decent power where as Shavers has destructive crushing power.

but there chins are greatly different shavers had little chin and could get tagged by light hitters jimmy ellis who started out at LIGHT MIDDLEWIEGHT made him do some breakdance manouvers. and olivers chin is maybe the hardest of all time.

skills...mcCall has very good skills and defence for his chin (many fighters with tough chins dont nearly have anything near the level of defence others have (manfredo, ibeabuchi, quartey). olivers jab is very underated not that it's the best jab of all time but that it's used well in his style well.

oliver could out box him and out punch him on this occasion....im 85% certain of a knock out or d by oliver

Shavers was limited and when he moved up in class, he did not have the same Ko success, except Norton who lost to every puncher he faced(except a shot Quarry) OLiver known for his durabilty and Crack use, had some good wins and losses but he would have enough to UD or stop Shavers(who still had a punchers chance

If anyone has a chance to floor Oliver, it's a puncher like Shavers.

But I have a feeling the most likely outcome would be for McCall to weather the early blasts, and rally to score a late battering knockout against a tiring Shavers. I think you need to box to beat a prime McCall, and Shavers might be a little too macho for that kind of thing.

One factor I'm considering is that if Shavers shakes up, and decks McCall, heavily early on would McCall have the mental capacity to fight back throwing leather and haul himself through adversity (ala Holmes vs Shavers) or would he clam up into a shell, could Shavers finish him? To counter that Shavers has a disadvantage in terms of stamina.

Both these guys are hard hitters, Shavers has the definite edge in concussive power. McCall has an iron jaw, in comparison Shavers' is shaky. Despite saying I don't think this would be an easy one to call, however much may depend on who is the first to land heavy shots. How would each guy react?

I'll go for McCall to take a decision, but Shavers has the punching power to sent even the most granite of chins.

Huge punch vrs good punch, bad chin vrs great chin, stamina vrs no stamina..McCall by late round kayo, as long as Oliver doesn't have a mental episode.

not only would oliver beat shavers by knockout but id say that oliver would be an extremely tough fight with any of the current heavys including wlad who id pick mccall to beat if his head was right

Oliver would win by unanimous decision.Shavers would stun Oliver a few times, but that would be the extent of his sucess.

  9. good thread. One legendary chin vs. the fighter who threw probably the hardest single shots in the fight game. I reckon shavers does well early, catching mccall with some bombs but getting little headway for it. However as he starts to gas mccall starts catching him with shots of his own, and shavers always was a bit chinny. i predict a 10th round stoppage by mccall, unless shavers can take him out early, which i doubt he could, althought with shavers anything could happen!

Earnie wins this.Oliver would have his moments, but then he would have some minor crisis in the ring, and Earnie takes advantage with some hard shots late.Earnie would win this by a unanimous decision, with Oliver still wondering what the hell is going on.
