Orlin Norris and Tony Tucker were comparable boxers to Ernie Terrell and many felt McCall was robbed against both of them... Somone has already mentioned this being the Bruno fight all over again, but Frank at least some sting to his punches to keep McCall honest.... Terrell would be one of the lightest hitting top rated heavys of all time going against one of the most durable. He was also terribly slow, stood upright and often put himself in harm's way... Ernie might very well have eeked it out, but its by no means a given.. In fact, I'm not even so sure that he should be favored.

U forgot everything about this fight , watch it again if ur going 2 keep argue on it . Bruno fought his usual fight except McCall was more durable than his usual opponent . Jabbing , holding & hitting behind d head , punching , bullying . Or maybe u just forgot about his usual opponents and only remeber Tyson ? anyway it didn't even differ much from that fight , except that McCall did not have Tyson's mood that night as well as most night admittedly .
U don't go 11 with Tua , stop Derrick Jefferson , 21:0 Seoul HW bronze (possbly robbed of silver and maybe even gold) Alexander Miroschnichenko , Hassim Rahman * 2 (&d last time when shot yourself) if u don't have no chin , u just don't .
I take it as Terrell was a superhuman unlimited KO punching beast with forged titanium jaw and a Buster Mathis like footwork with endless skills that only Cautious Clay could thumb & hold .
After all Terrel was featured in ring magazine's top 10 HWs in such a splendid era . Something only top 150 ATGs could achieve .

Orlin Norris was so much better than Terrell , that i can't find d word 4 it , but not comparable , just because of size .
Tucker might have been comparable , due 2 d drugs , but still better .
    Do u have / did u watch McCall vs either 1 of them ? I couldn't find these fights :-( .
Just do not mention Henry Akinwande & Lennox Lewis whom were vastly (found d word ?) superior 2 Terrell and what happened ?

There was nothing in that fight to "remember" in the first place.

I don't need to watch it again to remember how wretchedly dull and sloppy it was.

No, THIS was Bruno's usual fight:

Even just a couple years earlier against Lennox, he fought more aggressively, imposed his strength, and had more snap and power on his punches than he showed against McCall:

The tentative, back-tracking, arm-punching Bruno from the McCall fight was not the "usual" Bruno at all - but as it turns out, his experience alone was all that was needed to make McCall look like an amateur.

Why not? Tua has a history of struggling with weak-chinned fighters before stopping them late, and Derrick Jefferson certainly wasn't anything special, to say the least.

    great reply .
Actually it was better than almost every single Ali fight .
Not that I claimed it was a 12rds thriller , but it did have its moments that u admittedly don't care about but still argue .

McCall not going down , also due 2 his defensive prowess and always remaining a live threat is d only difference . Bruno was no kamikaze , how many were though ?

    1 year makes a difference 4 some when they cross d 30 .
Some like Terry Norris , Marlon Starling , Lee Q Murray , Ricardo Hatton , Manny Pacquiao , not 2 mention Mike Tyson .

More importantly , Bruno knew not 2 fukk with McCall 2 much , as he watched n aggressive Lewis (who owned his own azz) going down and rising dizzy as a result of fighting him , but Bruno fought quite well vs McCall , along with his usual fouling . D bigger man won d physical contest that night , even if not by much .

His experience like from knowing McCall as his former sparring partner and knowing what 2 do and what not 2 , that experience had big part in it , no doubt . As well as d footage of both men's fights with Lewis and a few other men , as well as Bruno's physical advantage and McCall probably being deep 2d chest in crack .
All of these did d trick .

I wonder what's your description of Max Schmelling's , Joe Frazier , Floyd Patterson & of course Terry Norris chins is . Compared 2 Tua's opponents of course .

Terrell was far from exciting but he wasn't as bad as some people make him out to be.

He went 46-9 (21) overall and went 3-1 (0) in HW World Title fights. He was only stopped twice in 55 fights... LKOby7 to Cleveland Williams in 1962 and LKOby1 to Jeff Merritt in 1973... his last fight. He did beat Williams in their rematch. He peaked after the loss to Williams.

His first three losses were by split-decision, twice to Johnny Gray, once to Wayne Bethea.

6'6" with an 82" reach. His best weight was 200-210 Lbs. He was durable, Williams could punch... and by 1973 he was washed up.

He beat trial horses like Frankie Daniels KO7 and Ernie Cab x2 KO8 and KO3. He beat good fighters like Cleveland Williams W10 (in their rematch), Zora Folley W10, Bob Foster KO7, Eddie Machen W15, George Chuvalo W15, Doug Jones W15, and Jose L. Garcia KO6.

Sure, he was clearly decisioned by Ali... so what? McCall would have been easily beat by Ali as well.

I like McCall, or at least tried to, but he just didn't let his hands go enough. He was big and strong with a great chin and good power but how many times did he make that a factor? Sure, he beat Lewis... what else did he do?

Dull but effective...that's what Terrell was..and more of an achiever than McCall.

    Indeed it was.

If you pretend Ali's fights with Frazier, Liston, Foreman, Norton, Jones, Cooper, Moore, Lavorante, Daniels, Powell, Liston, Patterson, Chuvalo, London, Mildenberger, Williams, Terrell, Bonavena, Blin, Foster, Shavers, Spinks, Berbick, etc., etc. never happened, then yes.

You're right, it had a round-and-a-half of some semi-decent action before settling into a ten-and-a-half round stinkfest.

No it isn't - Coetzee was no less skilled than McCall, and posed just as big a threat with his right hand.

So now according to YOU, Bruno was no longer the "usual" fighter had had been even a year earlier??

Which means he DIDN'T fight his "usual" fight as you claim, since the "usual" Bruno DIDN'T mind fkking with opponents - even vs. Tyson and Lewis.

Norris and Patterson didn't have great chins either, but probably no worse than Maskaev, Rahman, Nicholson, etc.

But was nowhere as durable and 10 years older which were all d reasons 4d difference in outcomes . It was d same Bruno against both .

They were worse . Rahman @ Maskaev would have never been @ a threat by Ali like power and neither 1 of them would have been steamrolled @ 1 rd by Liston . Those who hurt Maskaev were big and massive men , much more than Liston .
