A couple of talented also-rans who didnt make the grade, but gave their fans a fairly exciting roller-coaster ride while it lasted (the excuses were belived ?) both were star amateurs, both turned Pro with Great Expectations, both suffered Bleak Hard Times...and both to an extent ended up Old Curiosity's. Billy was favoured in some quarters to beat Alan Minter in his British title Challenge, But Minter put those thoughts to rest in a quick second round dismissal, Christie likewise had reasons to be optimistic in his showdown against Mark Kaylor, but Kaylor Stopped Christie in a fantastic See-Saw Battle...with Mike Watson later signposting Christies Exit They were both to suffer disappointments when trying to regroup, both could box well, both could punch single shot or in combo, both simply seemed to have one piece of the Jig-saw Missing..a decent Chin (despite any Leg-cramp salt depletion excuses..) Two birds of a feather..not the Hawks they first appeared but they contributed some colorful ink for the British fight game. Errol or Billy...??
