Errol spence favourite

Spence is no pushover. I'm a Brook fan but it's not hard to see why Spence has so much hype.

I'm surprised he's favourite given all things, such as the venue and Brook's ability.

I'd say this is a 50/50 fight

 

He has looked exceptional in his last few fights, but it wouldn't be the first time a fighter has looked the goods against guys he is supposed to beat and then come unstuck at the top level. His best wins are Algieri and Bundu, who you'd fancy Brook to do a proper job on as well. He's an exciting prospect, but at this point I've never had the feeling of inevitable greatness like with say a Roy Jones or Mayweather early in their careers.

To my mind this fight is a pick'em. There are lots of reasons to go for Spence, but he's too unproven to make that pick with any degree of certainty. Brook is a genuine class operator with an excellent chin, good power and a point to prove. If he wins this he could potentially become a crossover star, and be in the running for mega fights (and mega money) down the line.

I'd be very surprised if this was anything but a very close and competitive fight. I can't seen anyone at 147 just walking through Brook, and the odds look very generous.

 

I'd question why Spence has never fought a puncher? He was hurt early on in his career.

I'm not surprised Spence is favourite. His ability is world class. He hasn't been tested yet but Brook's best win is Porter and I think most people would pick Spence to beat Porter.

And then yes, you have the fact that Brook is coming back down in weight after a battering from GGG and a terrible eye injury. Fair odds IMO.

 

If you listen to some ex fighters (Americans of course) brook might as well not bother turning up because spence is going to destroy him easily. I will love it if brook beats him, love it.

I can see Spence being the favourite given the circumstances but not a 2/1 favourite like he is with the bookies right now.

I've placed £100 quid on Marathon bet for Brook to win a decision and will get nearly £500 back on the odds. Too good not to bet really thanks to this late rush of money coming in from the Yanks.

 

Brook looking taller and bigger than Spence in the face-off, think this confirms that Spence was wearing platform shoes with his suit in the original press conference.

Spence is a worthy favourite Brooks 4 defences in 3 years have been short of embarrassing, he simply fought Golovkin for big money and got what everyone thought he would a beating

 

But all brook did was face his mandatorys.. just like now with spence. How can he be blamed for whos in that number 1 spot?

 

If I remember rightly, McClellan was 1/3 before he fought Benn. However, he was far more proven than Spence having twice beaten Julian Jackson, and in a fight that was always going to be a shootout, the odds seemed stacked in favour of the guy with the bigger punch and better chin. Obviously, it didn't work out like that, but there were compelling reasons to pick McClellan and few experts gave Benn much of a chance.

I don't get that feeling at all with this fight. Spence hasn't beaten anyone on Brook's level, and depending on who you ask his chin is somewhere between "suspect" and "unproven" (I'd lead towards the latter).

You can get odds of 5/1 for Brook to win inside the distance, while Spence to stop Brook is as short as 6/4 in places. The bookies don't often get it wrong, but surely they weren't THAT impressed with him beating Algieri??

 

It wasnt that long ago, that Bute, who at the time was the next best thing to come out of north america, waz sent back with his tail between his legs by froch. The americans and canadians used to rave about him.
This is 21st century, we have access to the same info the americans have. Theyre just getting behind their boy. Theres nothing really special about spence.
Hes good thats all but so is Brook.
Brook beats him. The crowd on his side will lift kell to glory.
