I'm not looking to blow smoke up Anthony Joshua's backside or to denigrate Errol Spence. But it would be nice if some level of objectivity is applied to these things. If Spence unifies at welter & beats Crawford along the way in doing so, he's got a case for being P4P #1. But how about he starts unifying at welter first? Shawn Porter would be a good start.
I agree man with the current crop of fighters at welter if he were to unify the division beating Thurman, Porter and Crawford and throw Pacman in there for good measure he'd have a case!
But right now currently not sure he even makes my top 10 if he did it would be on the back half for sure!
I think The Ring has special criteria in the small print that awards P4P bonus points to guys for beating midget garden gnomes. You need to be American in order to claim them though.
spence should be somewhere between 10-15 It's ridiculous that there's 3 guys in the top 10 from the really low weights - were competition is not as strong because many countries don't have any boxers in the weight classes, plus there's a new weightclass after every few poxy pounds so being a multi weight champion holds less significance in those weights.
You gotta remember that imaginary p4p rankings were create to favour and boost the status of the smaller non heavyweight fighters because in reality the best fighters will always be the heavyweights if you base it on the simple fact that in real life the best heavyweights will or should win in the ring against any boxer from all the other weight divisions. This is why p4p lists was created to favour the smaller guys. Anyonwe remember the last heavyweight that was the consensual number one on a p4p ranking list?
Mike Tyson. Both Joshua & Spence have campaigned in one weight division. Their respective accomplishments speak for themselves. I'm happy for Spence to be recognized as the #1 P4P. The potential is certainly there. But let's see him earn it & not be gifted it by the ding-a-lings at The Ring. Applying some objectivity occasionally won't kill them.
If I was a HW I wouldn't care about p4p rankings. Being the HW champ means you're the best fighter in the world H2H.
That's funny. They shouldn't even have him there in the first place and now they have him in 5th after beating a guy two divisions lower? BULL****
Yes how can you rank someone on the back of a one sided mismatch?he was already up there anyway imo. Canelo deserves to be up there on account of the opposition he's facing.who else right now is taking on anyone and everyone?Usyk perhaps.
Id put Spence in my top ten because of a lack of better options. He beat Brook, a decent win but nothing great and beat the tar off of Mikey who clearly had no business at WW. I like Spence, in fact hes one of my favorite fighters but the hype he is getting is a bit ridiculous.
