This fight is never happening. I was bitterly dissapointed not to see an announcement made at the end of Garcia vs Davis. These two boxers should have fought last year at the minimum… a June 17 fight this year would have been anything past this is just a joke. Perhaps espn doesn’t want boxing to rival other sports? Once can only speculate and bring as many conspiracy theories… but I want all of those responsible to know they **** up. This should have been made. And now it’s going to fade away and these boxers legacies will also fade into obscurity.
If the two don’t fight each other they don’t even crack my top 150 welter weights of all time. To be an all time great you need a better win than Porter or Brook.
Does anyone care about this fight anymore? It’s looking likely that it’ll just end up as a big ‘what if’ Al Hayman, Eddie Hearn, Terence Crawford’s agent, bob arum? I hope you’re all reading this haha!
Since picking up all the other belts Spence has been waiting for Crawford so they can have the fight but everyone should know by now Bud does not want it.
It's far easier for both men to fight overmatched opposition for a good chunk of change. Al Haymon pays very well. Bob Arum not quite as well, but still pays his veterans pretty well. They both carry on like this fighting overmatched contenders until they are 40. It adds up to a lot of paydays. Neither man wants the risk associated with fighting one another.
This is like the Pacquiao Mayweather situation but without the superstars in their division to fight whilst they avoid each other.
Spence could have faced other guys like Thurman , Ortiz etc since he took the WBA belt of Ugas but has made it clear to his team and Al Haymon that it’s Crawford he wants next for the undisputed but Crawford seems reluctant despite the career highest pay day on offer.
Crawford is getting paid 10 million dollars to fight a shot Shawn Porter and a mediocre fighter like David Avanesyan. These aren't threats to his titles. He can coast on this until he's 40. Why fight Spence? He's getting paid to fight guys who are no threat.
