Pac needs to box him tactically and make sure he has stamina to do it for 12 rounds, and hope he isnt shot. My money is on Spence tko rounds 6-12. I respect Pacquiao for doing this. He really doesnt have to but shows he's a dying breed among fighters nowadays. I will be rooting for him though.
Pac's real fight is against Father Time, not Spence. Pac only loses if he finds that he can't pull the trigger — something that can only happen on fight night. Spence will go for the body early to slow the old man down, but he's going to eat Pac's power shots for his efforts. Maybe Pac can detonate a left land that takes Spence out.
I thought the odds would be closer. This is going to be tough to bet. Maybe some irrational Pac fans will cause the odds to tighten.
Not that surprising considering Pac's age and lack of activity. But I suspect the odds will close a bit as the fight approaches as Pac fans put money on him hoping for the upset. Pac's never lacked self belief and has always been ambitious like when he planned to fight JMM and then Morales after beating Barrera which at the time was seen as outrageously ambitious to move up and clean out featherweight so quickly. But you have to think this is too ambitious even for him. While I don't rate Spence as highly as some, he does have a very physical style, something prime Pac would of used against him but this older Pac can't fight with the insane intensity and work rate like he used to. Maybe he can old man Spence, out smart him and pull of what would be a big upset but I wouldn't put money on it.
I'm really hoping that the 2 year lay off rejuvenated Pac physically. It's not like Pac gets fat between fights and he stays in shape year round and has to do weight loss camp on top of training camp.
Man, fighters usually don’t improve with age. I heard someone say fighters age like milk. Manny is an exception but he can’t beat Father Time forever, right? If this was right after the Thurman beat down, I’d take the 5-1 odds and bet Manny. It’s a huge gamble at this stage but I wouldn’t lay 1-5 on Spence either because you never know. I’ll just watch this and enjoy what will likely be the end of the long HOF career Manny has has. Hope he wins but it will be a true upset if he does. Spence is huge for 147 and a Manny is ancient but looked good his last time out. Hope he isn’t injured. Brave dude. Most guys his age are on the couch or fighting you tubers. Mad respect.
He hasn’t been this big of an underdog since ODLH fight. As the fight closes, the odds will get closer as the hype will sell people on Pac as soon as his pads training and Roach and his teams confidence come out in interviews. And the Asians start betting on Pac. I might lay a big bet on Pac now and hedge it on spence when the odds get closer.
