Cuevas was a pro at 17 (?) years old and suffered some early losses. Then he found his stride and won/ defended his crown 12 times against the WW contenders, and only missed Carlos Palomino of his era. SRL said he would fight Cuevas but didn't. Benitez never appeared interested in a Cuevas WW fight. So, Hearns cracked Cuevas' jaw and his record then suffered. Since Spence doesn't have a long-term record against "the best" yet, going with Cuevas to get to Spence early and TKO him in 5 rounds, based on Cueva's heavy left hook & big fight experience. But the young Spence but would improve to another level due to such a loss.

I just had a look at a Cuevas fight and he looked a lot slower than Spense, I don`t know if he had the hand speed to catch Spence who holds his gloves in an excellent position near his chin without being countered, I will watch the rest of the Espada fight as Cuevas footwork and positioning looks like it will factor later in that fight.
