Errol Spence vs Tim Tszyu

Good fight for EJ to come back with after a 3 year layoff. But on the flip side, Tim, if he is to lose this fight, does he have a future in the sport. That would be 4 losses in 2 years with at least 2 of them via stoppage. I honestly never seen him as elite, but I did think he was better than what he's shown since his first loss vs Fundora. But it seems as though he was fools gold.

 

If Tszyu can't beat Spence then he should call it a day.

It's the fight Tim needs and Spence obviously doesn't rate him if he's willing to fight him straight up from a long lay off. It's a golden opportunity for Tszyu and an express lane back to the big time.

 

I would assume Al Haymon would've gotten somebody like Adrian Granados or Cornflake Lamanna for Errol's comeback tbh. I don't think he'd take the risk that Tim still poses since we don't know what state Errol's in anymore.

Spence is completely shot.

 

The prolonged beating Crawford gave Spence, plus his years away will lead Errol into a violent knock out and hospital stay from almost any decent opponent he faces.

 

If Spence can't beat Tszyu he should call it a day as well.

 

I would think Tszyu should be the favorite. Spence got destroyed by Crawford and has been nowhere to be seen. I think this is a dumb fight from Spence, if he can get back to form I think he can win but I think that is a big if

 

He's coming off a long lay off and his only loss is to Crawford, Spence can make excuses. Tim can't afford to lose, maybe a close points loss but anything else should be career ending.

 

Yeah, that's fair, but if Spence wants to get back and compete at anywhere close to the top end of the division, he needs to beat Tim who got absolutely annihilated by Bakhram and Fundora (in the 2nd fight) - Tim is not world level at 154, and if Spence loses to him, he may as well pack it in himself.

 

Tim was world level though, the Bakhram loss was terrible. Fundora fighting the way he fought Tszyu in the rematch is an horrific match up for anybody. Granted Spence was once pound for pound rated but Tim never was. What do you classify as world level? If you're fighting for world titles and have had belts around your waist, surely that's world level?

 

He was world-level for the first Fundora fight, but the manner in which he's lost his last 2 world title fights has shown he's taken a huge amount of damage. If he'd have been competitive in either Fundora 2 or the Murtazaliev fight, then I'd still consider him world level, but I think there's a handful of fighters at the weight now who are on a different level to him. I usually consider my top 5 ranking at any weight as world level. I know people have different classifications, though. Spence could easily be just as damaged, it's not a great fighter for either of them really, I wouldn't like to see it.
