What if EJ wins? It’s not actually been proving that EJ can beat in the ring. These are 2 elite fighters.

This match up would be very interesting to watch as you would have 2 Students of Professor Floyd Mayweather Jr fighting for supremacy.

Clenelo would put a savage beating on Spence before taking him out. Spence might completely lose his ability to speak after the fight. And I dislike Clenelo on a high level.

If he wants to, why not? There has always been a historical precedent of top Welterweights moving up and trying their luck at 160, sometimes even succeeding. Emile Griffith, Mickey Walker, Sugar Ray Leonard, Robinson, Jose Napoles, Roberto Duran, Luis Rodriguez, Henry Armstrong, Doanld Curry, ODLH are just a few of the names I can remember who attempted this.

There you go again. Bet you were one of those thinking Lil G would do that to Canelo when they fought only to find out skills matter not just size. Spence is a skilled boxer puncher with variety and athleticism with a great ring IQ. Canelo could win and so could Spence but it will be a great match up. Do you really think Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout are better than Spence?

He'd make at least as much vs Pacquiao and have a (supposedly) easier time doing it. This is just clout-talk on a night when everyone was doing Canelo-talk.

I guess it depends on exactly how much weight Spence is really having to cut to make 147. His frame is pretty much perfect for 160 - he's not a small guy. However, does his power translate up 2 divisions enough to keep Canelo honest.

I've not seen enough of Spence yet to really class him as truly 'elite' level - whilst he handled Brook and Porter, Brook I think was damaged goods after GGG - not so much because of the eye injury, but IMO because of the crazy yoyoing up and down in weight caused by the GGG fight. Putting on all that muscle, just to cut back down again must have had an effect. Up to around 6/7 I had Brook ahead, but think the weight took it's toll and he broke down bit by bit. Contrary to how he finished against Porter for example.

From what i've seen, Spence doesn't have a huge amount of different dimensions to his game in terms of adjustments - keeping behind his jab and being more athletic than his opponents has really been enough for him - he hasn't been pushed hard enough into adversity yet at 147 to see if he has a plan B.

If Spence can handle Crawford, then I can see something more special.

Anyways, I think bypassing 154 to go straight to 160 is not a good idea for any boxer - think each division jump needs some "acclimation time" to bed in.

But maybe Spence sees something in Canelo others don't (apart from the big bucks I mean!)

Spence is great but Canelo is just better at everything. Think it would look like Canelo-Floyd but with Canelo being Floyd this time.

I like Spence, but his style is terrible vs Canelo. He's a walk you down, bully you kind of fighter. He gets KO'd. The bigger, stronger guy will win this one.

GGG fought a roided to the gills Clenelo. Spence is too small/skinny for Clenelo. He went life and death w/ Porter.

Does it make much sense to say he’d be scared of a smaller skilled guy, but is willing to move up multiple weight classes to risk a career ending beatdown from a larger skilled guy? Can we actually try to view this objectively?

I think it's all rubbish, but more power to him if he means it.

even if its a cash out , Spence will come to make a show of it. he's still got some height kn Canelo, he's not gonna just forfeit his physical advantages, try to survive and the whine about a torn bicep after the fight.

if this fight did actually happen, tho only loser would be TC. This would completely separate Spence from TC in the conversation, much like Canelo gas already done with GG

It might be that Spence is just using Canelo's name to strengthen his own position at 147 in potential negotiations with Crawford?
