I SLIGHTLY favour Brook and he's one of my favourite home-grown fighters, but I can't see this as a mismatch. There are too many unknowns for this to be the case: Can Brook make WW again without being weight-drained? Will he be tentative after the eye injury? Can Spence deal with the step up in class and still look good? How will he handle the crowd? How will Brook stay calm with such a crowd urging him on? Etc, etc. It's not a mismatch...
I think he looks fast, powerful, good foot work, good technique. Also looks fit but not been in a hard 12 rounder yet. Only question mark is his chin.
I'm no expert on weight cutting but Brook being 10st 13lbs as of last Friday suggests the weight hasn't been an issue doesn't it?
Even as a Brook fan I see why Spence is so dangerous. Great power and doesn't seem to give you a chance to breathe, constantly chasing you
Yeah, I agree it looks like he's doing weight just fine, but having leapt two weight divisions and then come straight back down, leaves a small question which will only truly be answered in the ring.
You'll find out in a few weeks how much of an animal Spence really is. I rate Brook high, but he's gonna have to give the performance of his life to get the W here.
Can't wait. Gutted I can't make it to the fight. Brook KO middle rounds. First rounds Spence is getting countered and caught from angles he's never known before. Gets frustrated throws a bit too much and walks onto something heavy. Brook finishes with combinations. (yes, I'm biased)
This has the making to be better than GGG v Canelo, very even matched fighters. Brook is no joke at all.
Pftt ,sorry for a minute I thought I was on a GGG thread...very accurate though...especially if Spence can survive some of Brooks bombs then Kudos to him!
Just wait till brook wins and then the masses will be shytting all over erroll claiming he had not beat anybody
Spence is definitely one to watch Simple as that Whether he's the real deal or not is yet to be seen, but he is definitely one to watch
Spence Jr has done everthing asked of him and in some style, we can't really deny him that because he can't do more than beat who is put in front of him at this stage. But I am one of the few that wants to see him do it against a top welterweight then I'll be a little more excited. As for the other hype, well apart from exciting some boxing fans with his displays of punch power I think a couple of gym stories helped him out, apparently he put it on Mayweather and he seriously hurt Broner in sparring, two big names in the US, that created more interest in him and created more hype around him. I believe Brook knocks him out, but if Spence Jr comes to the UK and beats Brook in his own backyard then love or hate him you will have to respect him and give him full credit.
Good post, i to believe Brook knocks him out, Spence has my respect anyway for stepping in that ring, i really hope he gives a good account of himself, and doesn't let the occasion get to him which should then make for a good fight, still can only see Brook winning though.
People keep saying that Spence's only question mark is his chin. It's not, it still remains to be seen if he can box with someone elite, he has yet to be in the ring with anyone above top 15. The chin is a question but so is the skillset. Someone can flash an amazing skillset against sub par competition, but when they box against someone elite or better, that amazing skillset becomes not so amazing. (think Toney vs Jones). In Kell, Spence is fighting someone that has shown chin, good hand and footspeed, power, and a great skillset. Kell, Keith, Porter, all 3 have been through the fire and had difficult fights against guys that made them dig deep, Spence has not. I think Spence is probably really good, but he's not ready for this fight. Mark my words.
