Yep, simple logic really, born into it, a vocation not a hobby, national sport etc etc etc. :thumbsup [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFBIjN3Ycoo[/ame]
I can´t remember if this was posted already pages ago...especially because I really can´t memorize too well the thai names like Wangchannoi haha.... But anyway, this is great stuff, Golden Era, Samransak vs Wangchannoi but I don´t know who is who...anyway is great to watch ! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZfRbxg-77o&feature=plcp[/ame]
Wangjannoi is the guy in the blue trucks. he is a Mauythai great for sure so is Samransak Muangsurin. their isnt many fighters that could survive walking down a puncher like Wangjannoi, but Samransak did just that throughout the fight. By the way they called Samransak the Iron Fist, it seems everybody from Muangsurin camp was a deadly puncher. Wangjannoi Sor Palangchai was a 5 time lumpinee champ with wins over Namkubuan, Kaensak, Samart, kongtoranee, Ole Kaitoneway, samransak, Nampon. He is among my favourite fighters.
Oh, is Samransak Muangsurin ! Didn´t know was him, now I definitely remember him..... Wangjannoi is new to me, good to know these infos Yaca, what a resume, definitely a legend, thanks....
Any Somrak fans? First Thai to win Boxing Olympic Gold medal also. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VcBUJmP1F0[/ame]
Yep, there are more than few Somluck fans here including me. He beat the ATG in my avatar Boonlai Sor Thanikul and if you look at the Thai writing below my name it is Somluck’s catchphrase on Thai TV "[FONT="]ไม่ได้โม้นะ[/FONT]" Which says “Medi mow na!” which basically means “I’m not a boast!” because he’s as famous for boasting as he is fighting. We’ve already mentioned him a few times on this ATG thread he comes up a lot. Top Thai ATG without question, hard to find anyone so comfortable in the ring with such a pure style of his own, a natural fighter. What more to say other than he beat some of the biggest names in the 90s such as Kongtoranee, Chamoukphet and Boonlai to name a just a few, got avoided by those he didn’t beat due to his unorthodox and unpredictable style, however never won a stadium belt and hence moved on to amateur boxing. He first spotted and purchased Seanchai Sor Kingstar, trained him and instilled in him some of that unpredictability and some of those unorthodox moves that arguable has helped Seanchai climb right to the top of the P4P ATG MT mountain. :yep He's also one of the rare breakouts form the army of MT fighters in Thailand that has crossed over into the Thai media and is a regular on Thai TV along with Samart, Khosai and Nong Toom. He’s a comedy like character to the Thai people known for his fighting , boasting and steakhouse that he opened in around 2001 in Onnut (very near where I used to live), but most Thai people have affection for him due to his boxing gold medal and his lovable rogue personality. Somluck is such a rare talent and natural fighter that after years of inactivity he can walk right back into an MT ring and make world class opposition look like amateurs which he did in 2000 on the King’s Birthday against a top N.Afican French fighter, he made him look like a novice. I was lucky enough to see that fight live in Bangkok in 2000. I have it on good authority that Somluck hadn’t spent one day in the gym training for the fight nad had been partying for weeks beforehand.:scaredas: It’s the first few clips in the HL reel that RJJFan posted. Here he is fighting the ATG in my avatar Boonlai (2 time Lumpinee champ ) in the 90s and a pic of them both retired many years later: This content is protected [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91MaGn7EkE"]www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91MaGn7EkE[/ame]
Great clip Vic, well dug out what a gem. :good Boy, did thay breed em tough in the 80s and 90s.:deal Well done fellas you're both really pulliing out the big gun ATGs this week!:thumbsup Wangjannoi Sor Palangchai ATGMTG. :bowdown Beautiful fluid Muay Thai at it best is what you get with Wangjannoi a master kicker. As Yaca already said both fighters are definete ATGs, but Wangjannoi 5 time stadium champ and having beaten the best of the best as the highest point for MT ever, the golden age of the late 80s and early 90s, an MT god. Whats anyones thoughts on Denis Alexio? i loved kickboxer as a kid and was surprised to find out he was so highly decorated at that time.
Kickboxer looms large in my teenage years to, but Tong Po was my hero! I'm not really a fan of HW MT/Kickboxing, it's rare you get heavies that are the full package, but Alexio was OK. I don't think you'll find mad love for him in MT or Kickboxing circles, he ducked top fighters including Muarice Smith and then Stan the Man did this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH9dDqe4A64"]www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH9dDqe4A64[/ame]
Beat me by a minute or two Boran. Found a clip, a shorter one actually, and was just about to post it It still causes me to feel pain in my leg every time I see that clip, and I'm a Stan The Man fan.
Cheers I'm gonna check the vid. I love his schooling of Kamel, a well schooled fighter taking on a master. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhEL_Vof354[/ame]
I've seen that vid before and talked to Alexio about it. He maintains he put his foot down wrong on the canvas and torqued his joint. I don't know, it does look like it but there's a reason he has the grass skirt on when he fights and its not just for looks.
Never heard of 'em :hey Got Kongtoranee Vs Gilberto Roman; good fight, and Payakaroon really does well in it.
