Fenech is one of my favourite fighters. That win is incredible and while I believe Fenech had the perfect style to beat Samart the Thai was ****ED at the weight, as bad/worse than Jeff had been for McCrory at bantam.

Wish that had been the 15 round war it should've been. Well, I wodve taken Jeff in about 12/13 rounds :D

Still, early fireworks (first official kd for Jeff; he protests it but it's fair IMO) then one of the worst beatings EVER.

If you still know Fenech please send my warmest regards and feelings of admiration to him, uploaded a fair bit of him to YouTube desperate for others to recognise his ability, really big fan.

Here’s the Saensak vid Flea was on about, a couple of short clips of him fighting MT that kinda highlights his brutal clubbing power and caveman type awkwardness. The thing is underneath all that caveman stuff is some real mastery of individual weapons, he’s just a natural born fighter, but not in the slick sense like Somluck or Samart more the kind of guy you really wouldn’t wanna fight in a dark alley! I’ve also posted the full fight of the Tamindong KO below it:

Saensak Muangsurin vs Tamindong Look U-Thong (Fullish….)

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPhq4WUUeHQ[/ame]

Saensak was a beast no doubt about it, but he got a bit exposed in a Muay Thai sense when he met a youngish Poot Lorlek at the height of his game. Saensak fought well and was a top tier MT fighter, but he just got technically outclassed. A bit of an ATG old skool classic! Interestingly enough notice how Poot sometimes gets the better of the hand exchanges…….

While we’re on the subjects of crossovers here’s a couple of clips I recently dug out of my collection featuring Chartchai, Apidet and fellow ATG Detrit Ittianuchit. The first clip is Chartchai Chionoi vs Michel Lamora in Bangkok in 1965. Nothing special but a beaut of a 1-2 combo, unfortunately I don’t have the full fight (not sure still going through VDOs bit by bit). Anyway Lamora got back up and the fight went 10 rounds. Chartchai won by decision.

The next 2 clips both feature ATGs Apidet Sit Hirun fighting Detrit Ittianuchit and both finish by KO, unfortunately I don’t have the full fight of the 2nd clip. The interesting thing is one is MT and the other is a boxing bout, of the two I think the boxing bout came first so the MT KO is bitter sweet revenge, Detrit looks on a mission in the MT clip. These two fought over 10 times and developed a bit of bad blood…..check the argy bargy 4.55!!

It looks like a lot or most of the top boys back then had a crack at boxing, I never knew Detrit crossed over till I saw that Apidet clip. Anyway it’s a tradition that’s alive and well just look at Sam-A's recent crossover and check this recent bout form Raja featuring Jomyuthchiw Wor. Rungtawee in red. He’s also occasionally crossed over to the pro boxing ranks, you can see why, check out his crisp combos. This is my favourite style of Thai MT fighter, quality low kicks mixed with quality hands just think Kongtoranee, Pornsanee, or most Thais that wiped out all the international fighters put in front of them in the 80s and 90s! It’s classically beautiful but deadly Muay Thai when done well.:love (It’s the style I always emulated).

Anyway long live the Muay Thai crossover tradition! :thumbsup

Never forgotten. When it comes to fighters no borders with me. A warriors a warrior wherever he comes form, even OZ.

    JWP :bowdown

Anyway, any man that can do the business on Samart desreves nothing but the most humbling worship and much much grovelling and plenty knuckle kissing!:bowdown

And yes, felt Saensak was well beaten by the smaller, nippier Lorlek, no shame there mind you.

I also like that tidy, patient and efficient style of operator Boran. You feel safe when watching them, just solid as ****.

 Funny, I was thinking of you as I posted them. I'll try to find more, it'd be great to stumble across the full Chionoi and Apidet bouts. Who knows maybe even Samart's debut is lurking around somewhere on an old VCD.............

Absolutley, no shame and that's basically it, smaller, faster & more technical, there was never gonna be even the tiniest chance of Poot KO ing caveman Saensak.....

That sums it up "solid as ****", but in a much classier way than "Dutch" MT.

That's the only recorded boxing match for Detrit by the way.

Apidej Vs Kim is the one I'd like to see. Not enough out there of Kim (I'd gladly trade a lot of my rare stuff for the Freddie Little fight)

I remember when Jeff was at the Sakad Petyindee - Pete Cunningham fight. When they asked him what he thought of kickboxing (no knees, elbows, etc), he was like "They get tired fast, don't they?".

We've spoken about Dekkers at length in this thread already. Exciting trailblazing warrior yes, but GOAT no, not even close. Against Thais he lost way more than he won.
