Winning a close decision against Cunningham and beating Banks and Gunn is not 'tearing up the cruiserweights'
I would say he deserves praise. That said, he is the best in a **** poor division. Hopefully after hearing what B-Hop said the other day, we will finally see who the best is at 175 later in the year. I also rate Dawson but feel his current place is justified.
But then the pic would only be up for 1 day. We should put one up at the beginning and update it if necessary throughout the month like the rankings, IMO, Pater:good.
You obviously missed him making Bell quit on his stool by completely outboxing him. Bell was inactive as **** but he was getting nowhere near Adamek regardless, because Adamek is such a quick cruiserweight. Bell on his best day was getting whooped. He has 3 good wins at cruiser in only 4 fights, and beat the #2 guy. If he's not tearing through he's well on his way. I'm even going to illustrate this point in black and white, I've got a bee in my bonnet about this one... Nonito Donaire is popping up all over the place. He's beat Vic Darchinyan and outside that very little. What is the difference between Vic and Adamek, really? Both went on to do very well after the respective losses and became the man in a higher division. Vic is a little more established indeed, but then outside of these wins lets check... Dawson outside that has Glen Johnson, whatever you made of the fight he has that win just like Pac has Marquez. And Antonio Tarver, still a respectable name. Glen Johnson and Tarver **** on Donaire's record outside of Vic. And there you have it, Dawson's record stands up to the test compared to the guys that are commonly put in the lower end ahead of him. The ring have Caballero, its too funny. Dawson even compares well next to Paul Williams record.
Indeed, Dawson's overall record edges Donaire's. The Vic win pisses over the Adamek win though. Vic beat ****ing Mijares who was meant to be a future HOF, ATG etc. There's a thread in the classic where people were picking Mijares over Galaxy!!! Vic completely dismantled Mijares and this was after been KO'd by Donaire. Skillwise, I think Donaire is better than Dawson and that's why I rate him higher. Donaire is technically much more solid than Dawson
Dawson is pretty solid himself, he's no scrub. It's not like he's getting hit a lot, because if he was he'd be KO'd. I don't believe his durability is too special. Ability is one thing...Guzman might be top 5 on ability but when it comes down to it record dictates most things. It has to, its too subjective and the lists are plain wild otherwise and come out looking like Freddie Roach's! Pavlik/Abraham is another one. It's like that loss to Hopkins suddenly changed the whole complexion. Pavlik beat the undisputed champ at middleweight twice, and Miranda before Abraham, when Miranda is probably Abraham's best win or every close to it. It's almost implied that Abraham would somehow do a lot better against Hopkins because his ability is so much better which is a complete nonsense. Pavlik has been hurt by the fact he took a really tough fight, which I find quite sad but what can ya do... :|
no because you keep a list of the fighters of the months. and the pick would be up from the end of august till the end of the next month when we pick the next guy
Thanks for the lists Ishy and TFFP. If you don't mind TFFP, could you add 5 more to your list please? Cheers :good
I'll give you the Pavlik/AA one. I was mulling over Pavlik or AA and I let the Hopkins loss cloud my opinion. Though you forgot Miranda-Abraham I? It was controversial and all that but Abraham still took Miranda's '0'.
Your not the only one, the whole forum has gone kinda crazy on the AA/Pavlik comparison in all respects. Record wise its not actually close, and H2H it certainly is close and people have their own views, yet things reversed completely in favour of Abraham just because Pavlik lost to Hopkins. :huh I'll have to think a lot more on the bottom 5, it gets pretty tough there. I'll probably have to collate 10 or so names and weigh it up.
Shut up, fanny. Just joking, Pater:good. You do have a point about them being on over the course of the next month. Well he should be top of 'BOTM' thus far as he was outclassing Nate before the cut. I think the power of a full time 140lbr really suprised Campbell. I'm still not sold on him being above Hatton YET, though.
'He still has his magical 0' arguement is probably another silly reason as well. I had Pavlik above AA in my list as well as we're ranking people on CV- not skillset or potential.
