    - International Fight of the Year--Marquez vs Diaz

    - British KO of the Year--Khan vs Salita

    - International Fighter of the Year--Pacman

Flea I would hardly say that Kevin Mitchell being used as 'Khan'onn Fodder for Frank Warren/Amir Khan and beating an unskilled Columbian warrants him a desrved mention for the 'breakthrough' award to be honest. Surely you cannot be talking about his other performances either :huh

This award would surely go to Khan. This time last year would anybody have given him a chance at achieving what he did ??

Just feel Mitchell (with that win) has 'broken through'; he now has an opportunity to fight for a title and is back in the public consciousness.

Khan has been 'out there' for a while; Mitchell was somewhat forgotten about and has been fairly inactive. He's come back, smashed some Afrobums  and shown a career-best performance against a dangerous but one-paced opponent.

Booth had a good run of things and made himself somewhat of a 'must-see' this year.

Khan got 'Best British Boxer' from me I think; hardly underrating him am I? Just think wins over admittedly faded Barrera, solid Kotelnik and the destructive win over the distinctly average Salita put him up there. I've given him a lot of stick in the past but he's had a solid year and improved immensely. Would've said Froch but on second viewing the Dirrell fight doesn't show him in the bet light at all. Taylor was brilliant though.

Haye has only fought once. If he'd only fought once and it was a win against a Klit no doubt he'd be no.1 Valuev was a very good win but I felt props for Khan were in order.

Just hope he can protect that chin:lol:

Frochy IS deserving. The Dirrell fight is definitely close, one guy is running,l the other is clueless  not the kinda' fight a 'fighter of the year' candidate should be in surely.

Second defense of a major title ends in a victory against a decent opponent after sparking Taylor out this year. Continues to get criticism and we all get told, he'll get beat in this fight, continues to prove us wrong on the highest level :good

Mitchell beat one afrobum, struggled against another and then beat an average (at best) Columbian in his only '2 sided' fight in the last 12 months. Khan has beaten an old man via his head, Kotelnik (good win) and a pretty lame mandatory and as you said was already 'big time'. Haye won one fight and was already 'big time'

I'd go for Khan as fighter of the year. Rebounded well to win a world title and then a dramatic stoppage over his #1 contender. Salita was **** but still, it was the way he bounced back that wins him the award.

Difficult for me to give it Froch when I don't think he beat Dirrell and in any case was terrible.

Haye only fought once and it was more a case of getting the job done than looking great.

TFFP I agree mate. Khan has done really well consdiering. Our argument was for breakthrough of the year - The fighter who has made a big name for himself in the last 12 months

Could be Khan again. He broke through on the world stage only this year.

    Froch broke through in 2008.

Mitchell is an option but just the one fight.

Can't think of anybody else worthy.

Khan has been a name in the UK since 2004 though ? I thought it was meaning who broke over into the Mainstream better ? Maybe i'm getting it wrong ??

You could interpret the way D-MAC defined it in a number of ways. Khan was known but he hadn't done much to be in the picture at world level before this year. He was more famous for being Amir Khan than having broken through in a boxing sense.

If its who has suddenly come to the publics attention thats difficult to quantify, do they know **** all except Khan and Hatton? The only one I can think of is Haye in that way because of the Valuev press coverage.

Yeah fair one. I'm still giving it to Froch. He's still faced the better opposition in the last 12 months, made a big name for himself finally and is in the Super 6. I know his last fight was controversial but I had him winning it. Plus Khan has Warren masterminding his success. Froch has Froch and the fat kid in a suit
