Nah, can't see your lot going down, safc. Definitely three worse teams in the league then Sunderland.

Funnily enough Jones was raised on a Lounge thread last night and here's what I said.

I'm absolutely delighted we got rid of that useless lump. He's actually rather good apart from the fact that he turns up for 6 games per season, shits himself against physical defenders, has the first touch of a serial ****** and can't finish to save his life, I can remember at least 6 one-on-ones he missed just last season off the top of my head.

However, despite me saying all that we desperately need a replacement as we do tend to hoof the ball up from defence even when we don't have a big man to win the balls.

While he may not be a great finisher, but he does fed Bent who if your best player by a mile. Without that service he is taken out of the game. So IMO your not losing 1 player your losing two.

1 man who would be a good signing for ya, Andy Carroll. I no your'll hate me for saying it but he is great in the air and good on the floor. Bent would love playing alongside some1 that can win the ball in the air as often as he does

If it was just down to pure footballing ability, I'd have Carroll at our place in a shot, but he's a lifelong Newcastle fan and the lad is by all accounts an utter wanker off the pitch and he may well be away to jail in a couple of months.

Then again he did batter Steven Taylor, who is probably the most hated Newcastle player of his generation by our fans, so I'd welcome him with open arms. :yep

everyone gets injurys mate. Spurs had Woodgate a world class defender out all year, King plays half the games, Modric was out for 5 months.

Trust me....Joe Cole is a good player but he gives you nothing extra.

I agree mate, but to have our two match winners out at any stage during the season is a big loss. We could cope without any of Carra, Masch, Lucas, Kuyt, Aqualani, Yossi (last year), Babel etc without too much pain. But losing Torres and/or Gerrard is a big loss as we dont have the comparable quality to come in. I'm confident that if those two stay fit then we'll finish top three. If we lose one or the other, top four. Lose both and we're out of the top four (after the top four, position doesnt really matter).

Cole has already given us extra in his 1 and a half games. Someone with creativity that is not Gerrard.

Only Mascherano is in the same class as Woodgate, King, Modric.

Its not about 11 players anymore. The problem with Liverpool is that they rely to much on those players. Build your team around 2 men and its destined to fail. No days you need a squad with 25 players all able to fill a number of roles that fit into a certain style of play.

Add to that Torres will probably miss half the season again. Liverpool will struggle.

Cole is a great player but can you remember that last time he was consitently class for a whole season? Theres a reason why he was never a mainstay at Chelsea. He is not the difference between 6th and the title.

I agree, but we don't have the team to really utilise him in that way at the minute, although if we get everyone fit this could make for a decent side away from home:

    Gordon
    Onouha-Bramble-Mensah-Richardson
    Reid
    Henderson-Cattermole-Meyler-Malbranque
    Bent
