 same here mate. Think we'll come 3rd (utd and chelsea in the top 2) with torres and gerrard stayinbg fit but if torres is out for a while again, it will be a real fight to get in the top 4. Our squad really isn't strong enough and hasnt been for a few years. We massively overachieved coming 2nd the other year and underachieved last year cos the injuries made our small squad get found out. A few years solid champs league qualifying would be fine imo. Really think we'll beat city quite comfortably tonight however.

    Bottom 3

    18th- West Ham
    19th-Blackpool
    20th- Wigan Athletic

This is S*nderland's fourth season in the prem, they have not put together a five season top flight run since the 60s. In the prem era they've managed already a hat trick of relegations (despite not appearing in the re-branded league til 96-97). They're due another drop.

West ham don't like anyone m8 :good

Our bitter rivals are def millwall (hence when we drew them in the cup we were singing 'ur just a warm up for millwall' to spurs).

Other notable rivalrys for west ham would be spurs and Chelsea in that order.

I thought it had been even longer than that.

Going through our fixture list, I am praying that our home form is somewhat similar to what it was last season, we probably won't have a better chance to beat City than we do on Sunday, try and catch them while the team hasn't gelled properly.

The thing is, if you go through the squad, then there aren't many better outside the top 8 IMO, but whether it's down to Bruce or the mentality of the players, we seem to be like a totally different team away from home. :huh

Still think we'll finish comfortably above you lot though. :yep

    18. Blackpool (will put up a fight, but will run out of energy)
    19. West Brom (a shockingly bad defence, as last time, they are certs)
    20. Wigan (a bunch of clueless mercenaries, with a clueless manager who will be sacked before xmas)

Mate, we were awful. Absolutely awful.

There was a complete lack of fight from the players. I agree that you cant blame the gaffer for that. City are not good enough to look that good against us. We were terrible.

The one gripe I do have with the manager is why play 4-4-2 away from home? Why change the system against City? Particularly when our whole squad is built around playing 4-5-1? Makes no sense. I understand him wanting to implement his own style, but do that against West Brom. Or in the UEFA cup when no one's arsed. Not against City at Eastlands.

    Rant over.

I think without Mascherano he was not confident to put Poulsen in there.. Spurs played 4-4-2 agasint them last week and ripped them apart.

It was a completely abject performance all round.

But I would have rather we played Poulsen and Lucas in CM, with Stevie behind Torres. The same system that the team has been playing for nigh on the the last six years.
