The trend here seems to be to favour fights in colour. I would have thought that Dempsey Willard or Dempsey Firpo might make a lot of lists.
Funnily enough, Dempsey-Firpo was my first choice, but I figured I'd have too many heavyweight fights there. Besides Foreman-Lyle, I chose fights that were fairly long and where the action see-sawed a lot.
1. Chavez v Taylor 2. Arguello v Pryor 3. Moore v Durvelle 4. Leonard v Hearns 5. Castillo v Corrales 6. Ray Robinson v Basilio 7. Marciano v Jersey Joe Walcott Books: Charley Burley and the black murders row Memorabilia: Not sure probably the cover of a Ring magazine concealing a Playboy it will get lonely on the island.
For me- Nelson Wolgast Willard Dempsey Sharkey Walker Louis Baer Ross Armstrong Marciano Charles I Tyson Douglas
I like the little guys, so: Barney Ross vs. Tony Canzoneri II Henry Armstrong vs. Lou Ambers II Jose Napoles vs. Emile Griffith Fighting Harada vs. Eder Jofre I Roberto Duran vs. Ray Leonard I Salvador Sanchez vs. Azumah Nelson Pernell Whitaker vs. Julio Cesar Chavez As for a book, anything that covers the early years of the sport in great detail would be interesting to look over. Memorabilia isn't really important to me, whatever will do.
FIGHTS LaMotta v Robinson VI Bradock v Louis Louis v Conn Ali v Frazier III Morales v Hernandez Patterson v Liston Hagler v Leonard* BOOK Night Train BOXING MEMORABILIA If I could take any one thing associated with the fight game it would be one of the card girls from Hopkins-Wright. * I bet you could sort this one out on a desert island.
They won't necisarily be gratefull to you for marooning them on a desert island with you but its your call.
