Ah, yes. I'd have Marciano solid at 6. He doesn't get into the 2 leagues I've got above but he's the best of the rest. I'm fairly sure rating him this highly is higher than most people tend to as he's seen as a guy that fought nobody and smaller men by a lot of people. I see him a lot at the rear end of lists.

    1. Ali
    2. Louis
    3. Lewis
    4. Holmes
    5. Foreman
    6. Marciano
    7. Frazier
    8. Holyfield
    9. Tyson
    10. Liston

Not including the Klits, I feel it's not possible to get a good perspective on a fighter until a good few years after retirement.

I wouldn't be too fussed if someone swapped Lewis and Holmes.

I'm not too sure about Marciano's place, was hard to place him, but the rest is pretty much how I see it.

Has there been any justification given yet for having Patterson at number 3?!

The above vids are just for fun, and for anyone that cares to watch them, I'd consider them ESSENTIAL viewing for anyone interested in ATG Heavyweights :good

So those fighters cannot be compared but Louis' wins over a lot of pre-war Heavys are still valid?

There is a fair amount of footage of the HW's actually. The game wasn't too different in Tunneys day, maybe 'post-Walker Law' would've been a more appropriate cut-off point?

I was wrong to have gene Tunney as no.10 in my alltime rankings.

Ezzard Charles DOES deserve that spot IMO.

    Walcott Series
    Lesnevich
    Bivins x4
    Elmer Ray
    Satterfield
    Louis

Scores very high on ability as well.

One of the most brutal K.Os of all time, against a devastating puncher and K.O artist

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je9fncDgI-s[/ame]

Good showing against Marciano both times as well.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IksKG80ER9o[/ame]

I'm not counting his fights at the Light Heavyweight limit against formidable Heavies, such as Archie Moore (Charles was clearly his superior) and Harold Johnson (an ATG light heavy who had success at Heavyweight)

Louis hadn't lost since Schmeling (!) arguably the greatest Heavyweight of all time and IMO the best puncher in the history of the division, outmanouvered and outboxed by a natural light heavy who started as a middleweight. This is a better win than The Rocks over Louis IMO.

Valentino was no great shakes but this shows just how great Charles was as Heavyweight champ IMO. His one-two to end the fight is as sweet as you'll ever see. Charles could box, he could fight, he could come back from devastating losses, and he could BANG!

I would say that Ezzard tops Liston. Just. Ezzard at his best at HW would beat Patterson IMO. His resume tops Pattersons as well IMO, despite the fact he went on too long.

lol i was messing around. But seriously I am trying to get a universal list for the Brit forum. Will only include regular posters lists. Once I get 25 I will move on to Cruiserweight and keep going down until we have a full list.

Patterson may have been incorrectly high in mine and others lists but if enough people don't vote him in he won't be top 10 so not an issue.

I would suggest you try and get your lists in early if you want to influence anything.

I have put my list in :good And I don't want to 'influence' anything, I reserve my right to challenge anyones list though :good

BTW, why Patterson so high? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

I was only joking anyway as I knew you were :good

My post above might interest you mucker :good

I think you would be better off just doing the traditional 8 weights Bobby.

Cruiser should not be included. Charles would rank high again for all the wins he has between 175-200lbs.

Most of the other would be do able without much of a headache though I think.

I'm a massive fan of Frazier but I'm really not sure how you've got him at 3.
