No one is right or wrong when it comes to opinion But surely we should be debating these lists? (when we come to actually doing them; seen your edit now)

Hopkins shouldn't be anywhere near a top 10 at LHW.

Although I'm not going to post my own just yet, so I better STFU! :good

 

Loads of fighters have done more at the weight though. And despite his achievements, his opposition hasn't been great at the weight. Good wins/performances for other reasons of course (jump up at weight, Tarver; age, away from home, Pascal; competitive fight with a top P4P fighter at the time, Calzaghe) but it doesn't strike me as top ten worthy. Considering most of the best light heavies are arguably from post-war anyway (Greb, Tunney, Loughran, Fitz would all be notable omissions as well as some others) would see Hop placing in or near the top 20 175lbers of all time.

Can't see that to be honest, but as I say when it comes to lists like these it's all down to opinions :good

 

I give Hopkins a lot of credit for doing what he's done at LHW at the age he's done it.

I know most people wont have him top10 & accept there is a good case for others instead, its just my personal opinion.

It's was harder to put together a post war LHW list than I thought. So many on the great LHW's were pre WW2.

Agreed, Loughran, Tunney and Greb would be locks for the top five/ten otherwise.

These are the 'right' fighters IMO. I might swap Dick Tiger for Joey Maxim, who was a notable omission on my attempt:good

Anyway, Hopkins isn't top 10, and there isn't enough time or quality opposition to get him in there. Pascal is average in the grand scheme of things (though I'm a fan) and Dawson is just another hyped up American that lost against the first primed, unorthodox opponent he faced..... he's going nowhere.

A win for Hopkins over a Bute, a Froch or even Kessler would be more significant.

Would be good to look at other divisions.....

Hill narrowly missed mine.

Tiger is a lock for top ten middles IMO.
