I grew up watching both boxing and MMA casually, but I didn't become obsessive about either until 4-5 years back. When I really get into things, I like to know absolutely everything. I don't even come close to knowing absolutely everything about anything, but damn it I try.

greathamza appears to be the man to beat this year. I'm up for the challenge.

Yeah. Hockey was easily my favorite sport until combat sports took over. My whole family is from Toronto, so I'm a lifelong Leafs fan.

Go ahead and make fun of me now.

I can't even understand that. At it's best, it is by far the most exciting team sport. Being a fight fan, you obviously have some attraction to violence, and hockey is violent as ****. I love that outside of a penalty, it is perfectly acceptable to just fight to resolve issues and boost team morale. You have to respect the toughness and grittiness of hockey players, if nothing else. Plus it's just fast paced and there is rarely a lull in the action. As far as I'm concerned, every other team sport pales in comparison.

    To each his own, though.

I just don't get it. I don't understand the strategy aspect of the game and I see what you mean for the violence aspect. Even though I don't watch it I can still remember the Zednik elbow few years ago...that **** must hurt bad.

I played when I was a kid. I was good at road hockey against my friends, so I went in thinking I was going to tear it up. But I ****ing sucked for the three years I played. Maybe that instilled in me a respect for the skill and strategy involved, because I couldn't even hang at a low level as a 11-13 year old. And I wasn't even playing against the really good kids.
