Yeah man, first off im happy just to be able to hang with the big boys, been a boxing fan for years but its only the last 5 years or so that its taken over my love for football (still love it but boxing comes first now)

Im level with you on 585, only 20 points behind Huki myself so a good week this week may hopefully close the gap a little.

Thanks for running it anyway, been a pleasure to take part :good

You seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to boxing, didn't know you were new to the sport. I'd say there are only about 25 peoples posts who i look out for on here, and you're one of them so you must be doing something right :D :good

Haha...you are too kind...it's not so much that I know what I am talking about as much as I know who knows what they are talking about and learn from them and follow their lead...;) :p

I just wish you would post more analysis - you keep all the good stuff to yourself and then hit us up in the League!:nono

Its weird you say that man, because a few people have said the same thing. I don't know what it is really, i just find it hard to put my feelings into words i guess. Another reason is that i really can't be bothered to argue with the nuthuggers when my opinion differs from their's, and it does almost all the time. Im going to make more of an effort in the future though, and the nuthuggers can go suck a dick if they don't like what i have to say :good

You don't need to argue or debate at all. Just post your analysis of the fight and your prediction and move on...let those who have a good eye for top quality posters apreciate them and for the rest...what is the point in worrying what they think anyway, haters especially?!:good

Yeah, i get what you're saying man.

Im going to hop back onto your Mayweather/Hatton prediction and analysis thread sometime tomorrow and say what i think. I already posted my prediction (Hatton late TKO) but i just left it at that.

My little brother fights amatuer aswell by the way, only put on a pair of gloves for the first time 18 months ago. He has a record of 11-4 but 3 of them losses came against the same guy, the other guy who beat him got knocked out second round with a bodyshot in the rematch. Gonna post some vids to see what people think. Trained by Ady Lewis aswell ( ex british and commonwealth flyweight champion, won the same titles at bantamweight aswell. He also fought for the the IBO bantamweight title but got beat)

If you simply get that Martinez TKO5 pick correct and that Arce KO pick closer, you'll be ahead of me, so anybody could still win. But I'm pretty confident that even an old McCullough won't get stopped by a mediocre fighter in front of Irish fans though. I think he took the fight to make a little money while showing he could get his ass beaten for 10 rounds one last time, unlike Dunne who embarassed the Irish after lasting a minute with Martinez. I'm also very confident in Arce KOing that glass chinned Thai fighter in the opening round, which should put me farther ahead of Brooklyn.. the main guy I'm worried about. We have 4 different result picks this week so Brooklyn has a great chance of being the leader again.

I've only been a hardcore/knowledgable boxing fan for a year or so. Before that I was just a big supporter of some fighters and only knew a lot about the divisions that they were in. It's amazing how much you could learn and how clear everything is after watching hundreds of fights closely and learning about what to look at in matchups between fighters. I'm sure in another year you will look back and think, "wow, now I get this!".

And even though I'm winning in this league and had amazing success with predictions earlier in the year, I still don't consider myself to be near the level of guys like Brooklyn/Amsterdam when it comes to analyzing fighters. It's sad that leading boxing writers and top TV commentators don't even know half of what they know about matchups/fighters. This forum is the best place in the world for great boxing analysis, as long as you ignore the nuthuggers and idiots.

The reason I'm 20 points behind is that I took chances on some things in an attempt to get a big lead, they backfired and now I'm playing catch up, such as the Calzaghe stoppage over Kessler, real outside chance and I was getting hyped up into the event too much.

It made me feel better though that the ref had to save Kessler from getting stunned awful and Calzaghe swarming him, that could have opened up a potential droppage, leading to a stoppage under the right conditions.

I cannot wait for that moment when I can just go off on my own and analyse even fights that aren't that obvious...:D

I did that a little bit also, but my major mistake was picking Pacquiao over Barrera and losing 25 points over that (after you add in the weekly bonus). I knew that Barrera had very little chance, but just felt too guilty with going against one of my favorite fighters.

That 20 point bonus thing messed me up again later and I think it affects people's picks. For example, a few weeks back I wanted to pick Lorenzo to beat Rosales on the telefutura card, but I saw that everyone was picking Rosales, so I chose not to risk letting everybody get a 30+ point advantage
over me if Lorenzo didn't win in that close matchup. If there was no 5-fight bonus, I would have definitely picked Lorenzo and I think in general, people would be less inclined to go with the majority on small, close fights like that one and take risks more often.
