I fully expect you to come strong:yep :good

What did you think about the pics and odds, like it, does it help?

I'm anticipating the talent pool expanding a bit with the FRESH START of the New Year:happy

I APPRECIATE THE TIME AND EFFORT THAT AMSTERDAM PUTS IN and its been another stellar year for his powers of Prediction!!!

How about Huki though? I was 5 points out 3-4 weeks ago:lol: Dude KO'd the Pack like Floyd did Ricky:-(

I took a few more risks than normal and that damn mayorga got me off track. Add Floyd and the KO? This week it's like WTF? If you jump me, i wont feel too bad.:D

Consider it a shout out to that missing Dane Pugilist:good

I like the pics. It always adds something when you can see a face, not just a name. I think the odds are a mixed blessing. They are often well off, and after all, we're trying not to go by them but to do better than them. I never check the odds when I pick fights for example. Once I have my pick, I check the odds to see whether there's money to be made, in my view, if the fight looks interesting. But I never change my pick on the basis of odds.

I hope that at least 5-10 very good poster will join next year. If I make top 10 I will be very happy.

Amsterdam is amazing! He has made that step up. Huki made that step up too! Also, they are getting better! :shock:I feel most of us still have a bit to go. Personally, I hope to get where they are now in a year or so, with some luck.

It's a bad idea to pick strategically, trying to get one over other pickers. In the long run it's a recipe for disaster. You should always pick as you see things happening, whatever others are doing. Thus, even if you are the only one to take a hit once in a while, if you are improving, you will gradually advance and stay in front. This week is very strange. The bigger the fight and the more I know about them, the better my picks. For example, I picked Calzaghe 116-112 UD and Mayweather TKO 10. But this week...it can all go wrong!:D

It's a shame DanePug is no longer here. I think he would have given Huki a good run for his money. He picked Kessler with his heart more than anything; he wouldn't have done that mistake otherwise.

Good luck with your picks, mate!:good

There are times when what you want and what you cant stand, collide. Had i picked Mayorga(which i emotionally refuse to do:D ). If I would have picked Mayo? Then I would have picked Floyd by UD and kept pace to be in the running for #1. With the 20 point difference on the correct picks, it does affect strategy a tad. In the eternal war of common sense vs emotion? You must weigh the gambles carefully:yep
I hate Mayorga so bad, and was am a vargas fan, so I dismissed the writing on the wall.

This week? There's not a whole lot of info available on this Jensen other than he's a boxer which is evidenced in the record. The win over Del Valle is a positive and he's undefeated. fair enough gamble to come in #2. The

Cantatore is the puncher and if Jensen cant effectively keep him off? Could be trouble. He's a bit older and hasnt done much in the last couple years, so we'll see.

The pics and odds are just INFO, kinda the more the merrier IMO. I dont let look at the odds BEFORE I pick, but do pay attention to opportunities. Also, i just threw those in to illustrate, could have researched the odds MORE:good

    I picked:

    Pavlik to win
    Juan Diaz to win
    Ibragimov UD
    Calzaghe 116-112 UD
    Cotto UD
    Povetkin TKO 11
Chambers to win...I cannot remember how...
    Mayorga KO
    Mayweather TKO 11.

So I did pretty well! HOWEVER: :dealI am heavily influenced in my big-fight picks by my discussion on the subject with Amsterdam. I also consult other posters from time to time, especially sean and Zakman. :deal

It will take me a long time before I will be able to think for myself, without any help from anyone...but I am making some progress. :D

Who would you consider the 5 best fight pickers on ESB? I would have to go with.

Amsterdam, huki, Zakman, northend, and Decebal

I'm sure I'm missing some, but I can't remember at the moment.
