The risk of losing, or getting too crazy with it, is why I never got into gambling. It's too easy, imo, to get hooked into it, and lose your head. I pick fights - and NFL football games - for the fun of it. I'm much better at picking fights than football, because I know the game alot better.
Sure...if you have an addictive personality, lose your head easily, love the thrill too much and aren't 100% disciplined when betting - never even start betting. It's easy to get hooked and lose more than just money: your freedom, job, wife, friends, health and self-respect. Betting is like a drug...
That's why only the most disciplined people, who are 100 percent confident of their ability to resist the temptations to excess, should ever get into it. The vast majority of people aren't like that - and even some of those who THINK they are get sucked in. I was never willing to take that risk - plus I absolutely HATE losing money. To me, that's like flushing cash down the toliet.
I stick by the rules I set out 100%. I am very disciplined and I don't have an addictive personality. As soon as I break any of the rules I set out with just once, for any reason, I will take my winnings and stop betting. It will be a sign that without realising it, I have become sucked in. I scored "0" in the addictiveness test. If you score more than 0%, DON'T start betting! http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=12057773565899163546
