We all have our opinions on promoters bring through top prospects so i thought I would start a thread where we would guide fighters through 2010 as if we were there promoter. Lets class a prospect as a fighter yet to win a Domestic title or higher, that is 25 or younger. I would say these are the top prospects in each division. If you guys think it should be someone different let me know. Heavyweight - Tyson Fury (9-0) Cruiserweight - Jon Lewis Dickinson (5-0) Light Heavyweight - Tony Bellew (12-0) Super Middleweight - George Groves (7-0) Middleweight - BJ Saunders (5-0) Light Middleweight - Brain Rose (14-0) Welterweight - Jamie Cox (13-0) Light Welterweight - Frankie Gavin (5-0) Lightweight - Liam Walsh (6-0) Super Featherweight - Anthony Crolla (15-2) Featherweight - Stephen Smith (9-0) Super Bantamweight - Scott Quigg (16-0) Bantamweight - Kris Hughes (10-0) Super Flyweight - Paul Edwards (5-0) Flyweight - Ashley Sexton (8-0) The goal is to get the fighter to have at least a domestic at the end of 2010. Minimum of 5 fights. Lets start with the Heavyweight and move forward from there.
I'd pick Chisora over Fury to be honest mate Will BJ Saunders be fighting at Light Middle ? Can't see him picking up a Brit title anytime too soon either Don Broadhurst wont either IMO Good list otherwise
I tend to agree regarding Chisora, but though msot would go with Fury in terms of long term potential. I also wanted to have guys under 25 and Chisora is 26 5 years older then Fury. Lets put BJ Saunders to Middle and Brain Rose at Light Middle. then everyone is under 25. Lets go with Paul Edwards at Super Fly as Broadhurst has already held a domestic title
have swaped him for BJ. Like i say the whole point of this is how we would guide them better than the promoter.
I like the idea. Gonna have a mess about and looksee at it. Probably could put Ashley Sexton in with any champ at his weight right now. Or Ahmed, Edwards and then Shinny. O move up for two fights and fight Blow and a Eurobum to keep him ticking over.
So lets start with Tyson Fury at Heavyweight. at the moment he is coming back from an Injury. He likes to be kept busy but he is at 10 round level now. How can we get him to British and beyond this year. i would say start him with a warm up fight agaisnt a British fighter. I guess whoever is prepared to step in with him. Perhaps Paul Butlin, he would give him a few rounds in Febuary. The perhaps a decent European Journeyman on the Froch vs Kessler undercard. McDermott is due to fight the Skelton/Chisora winner for the English title so the rematch will not happen until later in the year. So how about Rogan for the Irish title in Ireland. Its would be a big fight and would get a decent crowd. Fury seems to feel he has got the better of Rogan in training so he would be up for it and I cannot see Rogan turning the fight down. So Rogan in June. If he comes through that, lets presume Chisora/Skelton beat McDermott. Then get the re-match on. It doesn't matter that the title is not on the line. McDermott in September. The face the winner of Skelton/Chisora vs Sexton/Williams before the end of the year. So in 2010 he would fight; Febuary vs Paul Butlin on an Undercard April vs Euro Journeyman in Denmark June vs Rogan for Irish title in Ireland September vs McDermott in a rematch December vs British and Commonwealth Champion
