Taples (and Omori) were both scheduled to fight earlier this year.. And both bouts were cancelled in the space of a few weeks :/

Tapales was scheduled to fight in Australia earlier this year but the fight was cancelled when his Indonesian opponent was unable to get a visa on time. I have no idea when he or Rivera will get back to action. Some of these guys are very poorly managed and are just toiling in inactivity.

He’s promoted by SanMan Promotions and co-managed by Peter Maniatis of Australia. Petalcorin’s world rankings: IBF #3, WBO #4, and WBC #11. I believe that his handlers are merely taking it easy with his matchmaking until they are able to secure a world title shot or a world title eliminator. They are playing it safe, not willing to risk it when they are basically next in line at an eliminator or title shot on the IBF route.

Hmm, might be wiser to go the WBO route instead. He's nearly as high in their rankings, just one spot's difference, and the winner of Acosta vs. Buitrago next month has to be seen as the much higher-percentage shot than going after Taguchi.

Im glad im not the only one who's frustrated with petalcorin's opponents. His team said they were targeting a world title fight this year as petalcoring is still highly ranked in two sanctioning bodies but seriously they could've have at least picked a domestic opponent who has a winning record. The same can be said to tapales i thought he will be one of the new pinoy boxers who will banner the phil but his inactivity is destroying my hopes on him. These guys seriously needs to step it up.

All i can say is at least petalcorin is keeping himself busy despite his depressing opponents and i don't want to judge his chances at a world title simply from his level of competition because i remember ancajas also having a **** poor competition till he stepped up against arroyo.

Lets not forget the kid with the most significant fight of the week in vince paras. I like what i see from the single video i watched from him but also can't tell how high his chances really are.

Anybody know what the middle initial "C" in Romero C. Duno and middle initial "T" in Mark Anthony T. Barriga stand for?

(just to satisfy my OCD when making titles for RBR threads in the future; I can't stand leaving an initial unexpanded while being meticulously thorough in every other area down to native tongue diacritics...and once I know there's a middle initial there's no returning to blissful ignorance about the existence of a middle name; it becomes an itch that must be scratched :sisi1)

1/2 ain't bad...Team PI won half the contested rounds, of 20 (plus a couple of knockdowns against them, making for a 190-188 sum deficit in points) in the doubleheader on my card, but Romero (whose future was always going to be a good deal brighter and ceiling higher than Rey's no matter the results here) got the W in the more important match.

Also there's a chance for redemption in a few hours with Jaysever Gailndez Abcede taking on Yutthana Kaensa in Thailand for the WBA flyweight Asian title. @PinoyProdigy @Boxing Prospect @CST80 you guys planning on being up for the RBR? I'm probably going to be snoozing tbh..

Kaensa has fought soft opposition since he lost to Ioka on New Year's Eve in 2016, so the upset isn't beyond reason, but then Abcede hasn't scored one since he stopped Pigmy in 2015.

    Thanks for the update.

Mayol seems like a decent trainer. Hope Magsayo joins him. Magsayo left ALA and is looking for a promoter and trainer.

Damn you guys missed a hell of a fight

Abcede wins by crushing KO2. Totally dominant performance
