So Marciano doesn't beat Holyfield,Tyson,Lewis,Klitschko etc why not? Obvously we'll never know but those fighters cannot do 12rounds like Marciano who isn't to say Marciano gets them late,as evidence by everyone who fought him he punched just as hard as did he in round12 then he did in the opening bell. He's proved his toughness in every fight where as,apart from Holyfield, the others haven't. K. Walcott only got going again when he had a wealthy backer and when he took it serious a man called Joe Louis was champion,When Joe retired Walcott/Charles came around a few years later Marciano came around. How can you compare it to the Pryor bouts when 1. Different circumstances of all fighters 2. We're talking about the two best fighters at the time when first and second matches are different to Pryor/Arguello 3. The dodgy incident which occurred. Joe Louis was coming off 11 or 12 victories,I do agree he was past it, and it showed Joe won the first two rounds and from then on took a battering. There were bigger men around at the time who were beaten by smaller men who went on to lose to Marciano.. Marciano isn't as good as Sanders,Purrity,Brewster...ok Roids help but I think the energy kick is HGH.. Wladimir cannot go 12 hard and fast rounds. He can't. He couldn't even go 4 against Brewsters. He fends off Dempsey for the first 5-7 rounds then it turns into another Brewster fighter. Dempsey didn't just KO Willard he raped his face with his fists and Willard could really take damage was evident in Johnson v Willard. You can't take anything away from that theory of yours..Haye KO'd Ruiz something Holyfield,Rahman,Toney and Johnson, doesn't prove anything apart from Haye had much more things on his side then what you claim is needed.. Holyfield is a blown up cruiserweight like Tommy Morrison. They punch and take punches the same at 188lbs than they did at 220lbs.
Charles and Walcott were not "ripe pickings" for any fighter in history at the time both fought Marciano. People who say this are disagreeing with their own eyes after examination of both performing against Marciano. These fights legitimately established who the best heavyweight in the world was. Charles, Walcott and Marciano were the best of that era. many bigger champions never established themselves as the best heavyweight within their own era. Charles weight was recorded within the lightheavyeight limit for a minute period of his career after the war. Charles fought a lot of times but there was a break during the war. Before this he had been a kid middleweight still growing. Charles had in fact only been decisivly beaten one time since restarting his career after the war which was also the duration since Mariano had been active.
what the hell are you talking about? johnson lost against willard, plus your examples are absurd , obviously a great smaller man would beat a big bum , old legend or average fighter, but a great big man beats a great small man.
The Johnson - Willard thing was a typo. I covered that already twice on this thread. As for the rest, this thread has had it serious dicussion and it is now probably a closed issue. Unless you have something better to add than emoticons or insults you would be better off re-reading the discussion or ignoring it all together. Either way it won't matter to me.
we needed a thread like this long overdue. if we went back to 15 rounds, fighters would have to be lighter again, wlad would be lighter. some great posts all in one thread.
Someone wake me up when weight divisions are abolished, when someone who has actually shared the ring with a much bigger and equally skilled opponent says that size didn't matter, or when a five foot ten, 185 pound power puncher rules the heavyweight division again.
i TOLD YOU IN THE OTHER POST WHY YOUR THREAD IS STUPID... YOU EXAMPLES ARE BIG BUMS VS GREAT SMALLER LEGENDS... HORRIBLE THREAD, IT DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING.. FOREMAN DESTROYED FRAZIER, BOWE DID BEAT EVANDER, LISTON DID BEAT PATTERSON, TYSON DESTROYED SPINKS.... THE BIGGER ALL TIME GREAT BEATS THE SMALLER ALL TIME GREAT.. SIMPLE evander did beat foreman and holmes because they were old men, ali weighed 216 pounds when he did beat foreman, george was barelly 2 pounds heavier, liston weighed 218 when the taller clay weighed 211, he was barely 7 pounds heavier and he ws not even in his prime , tell me a single example where a 185 pounder did beat an all time great full sized prime hw....
