I am in total agreeance with you. Being that all of the fights in the league are supposed to be major ones, it seems unnecessary.

The point was that some fights like Pacquiao v. JMM for example, were bigger than Guerrero v. Litzau, and should be scored as such. These massive fights everyone knows and thinks more about so the picks should be better informed and thought out. As a result, they should count for more than your pick for Guerrero v. Litzau.:good

On weeks that NO fight deserves blue status, though, does it become "the biggest fight this week is blue by default" or do all fights get equal stature until a true Pac-JMM level superfight does come along? I'm having a hard time understanding why Haye-Mac is considered one; on the other hand I am not British and am highly undernformed about both.

No...if none of the fights is massive, none of the fights deserves the status. The Haye v. Macca fight is between the undisputed champion and the better other champion in the division - it is a very big fight!

I voted against Maskaev v. Peter being a blue riband event; it just ain't a big enough fight...these guys are not even in the p4p top 30! But huki thought we should put the matter up for a vote, and I obliged.

The vote above is so close that Maskaev v. Peter should not be considered blue riband. The presumption is that very few fights are massive and the rest we run - just big. Unless there is a healthy majority ( 50% more votes) of people wanting a fight to be considered blue riband, it shouldn't be, even if a slight majority thinks it should - maybe many just want more points to be on offer because they're hoping to climb up the rankings!:-(

Unless just the very big fights are considered blue riband, the whole point of blue riband disappears. Having many blue riband events devalues the more informed, more thought out picks we make on the really big fights.

    Peter TKO 4

I hate to do this and in my heart I really believe Maskaev will KO Peter, but I have chosen my favorite fighters over opponents that should be favored over them in the past out of guilt and I don't want to be stuck as the median score forever. So I'm praying Maskaev will survive the early rounds with Peter and knock him out in the second half of the fight or win a UD. But if I'm being 100% realistic, I'm worried about Maskaev's age/inactivity and Peter's wild, wide punches that Oleg might not see coming. So, Maskaev TKO 9 is my heart pick, Peter TKO 4 is my unbiased, actual pick.
