That's a good one. That's exactly my thinking, it's a 50/50 fight. Noticed I didn't put UD? I simply posted close decission because . . . definitely a split decission is far from being a UD.

 

Personally, i don't think ANY fights should have more emphasis placed on them if they are close fights to predict, and people are for the most part undecided.... As long as footage is readily available for both fighters, and it is genuine a close fight on paper, i can't see how a fight should be awarded more points because the fighters in it are more "significant" by way of a slightly higher p4p rating. It has absolutely nothing to do with making your analysis better, or more difficult.

Anyway, i wasn't hinting at changing things this comp regardless, as everything has already been set in place. I was saying that maybe its something that should be reviewed when the next one comes around....

That is just my opinion, others are going to be different to me...

 

I don't think thats a bad idea... I still have expressed my thoughts on Blue ribband, but its your comp, and i am only one person.

I haven't really heard from anyone else what their thoughts are on the whole thing.

I like that though, because its a gamble that could very well be rewarding, espeicially in a fight like this were most people knew how genuinely close this would be. If you take the gamble and it pays off, you get extra points for accepting the increased risk of getting nothing.

 

Even in this comp, I have had to make picks where I could only see one round of that fighter...one round...a couple of years ago...so, pretty much, I've had to guess!:roll:

Now, you might say: why was that fight even on the list?

Because huki suggested we should have it and people voted to have it!

But I don't see why my pick for that fight should be considered as relevant as my pick for Pacquiao v. Marquez...where I can watch all their recent fights, know everything about their preparation, know their weigh-in weight, have watched the weigh in, have read their interviews...etc.

One fight I've seen one round of footage and looked at boxrec. The other fight I knew everything there was to know...This is why, if we are to keep including lesser fights, we should have blue riband.

The problem this week was not with this fight being blue riband but with the scoring system bing inadequate...but we can change that.

"wide UD" is e.g. 116-112, 116-112, 115-113

"close UD" is e.g 116-112, 115-113, 115-113

MD counts as "close UD"

SD and draw count as "draw/SD". - 50 points.

I see your point, i just personally dislike blue ribband, but once again thats just me. Not trying to say it should be changed because i personally don't like it, just throwing the point out there...

 

What is a "torrent programme"?

Torrent programs allow you to download files in a streamlined format, so they are much quicker to grab off the net. Any sites that let you download movies, fights or alubms (anything of length) will use this format.

The program i use is called UTorrent. Others are Azerus or Bittorrent. Try searching through google (they are free) and just read up about it. It is reasonably straight forward.

This site is far and away THE BEST tool for boxing fans, anywhere in the world. They have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of fights, from older eras to the current day fights.

And because its an international site, you gain access to cards you would otherwise have no way of watching, and who will RARELY appear on something like YOUTUBE. You get full fights at DVD quality, not 3 minutes of haze like YOUTUBE as well.

 

But don't I have to upload on it to get "credits" to alow me to download fights?:huh

You don't need to upload at all. All you do is make sure you download a fight when it is first put up... (say a few hours after the fight)

Just download the fight, but leave the site up and running with your torrent program, so other people can share off you who are downloading the same fight.

Your ratio will be more then enough to cover what you need if you leave it open for 2 days max.

 

You don't need credits to start off either, they give you a decent starting ratio...
