    :twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

This is why i HATE the whole Blue Ribband ****....

You put MORE emphasis on a fight that is f*cking pick em... Its contraversial, and ends up being a role of the dice more so then any great analysis.

But for the people who did manage the 50/50 split right, they are going FLYING up the ladder, off the back of one pick.

Considering this is about Big fights, i can't see why any one fight should be worth so much more points, when the majority of fights we are deciding on should all be close fights.

Its got nothing to do with that though... I clearly stated that i hated this idea REGARDLESS before this fight happened.

You have a fight that really could go either way, and if they fought 10 times probably would end up 6-4 ofr 5-5 or something. To the point where when making a choice on the bout, becomes something of a 50-50 chance.

Yet for some reason we give MORE points for these fights then others:huh:huh

I would personally rather it to be about consistent tipping. Jokers or Blue Ribbands are only really good when you have 5 fights every week, and ONE of the fights is harder to choose from then the others.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Its obviously too late to change now, but maybe something to consider for next time:good

    hey MSTR,

I thought we can only choose UD WIDE or UD CLOSE if we predict that the fight goes the distance.

    Can we choose SD now?

The only solution, then, is either for you to factor in the politics that surrounds the game in bigger fights, like I did...(I thought JMM would beat Pacquiao unless Pacquiao scored at least two KDs; I thought he wouldn't manage it this time; however, I did think he might manage either to stop JMM or to get the decision because he is the big star with the longer future in boxing...so judges would favour him. I was going to change my pick from TKO to decision for Pac, but couldn't edit it anymore, so said: forget it...) OR, we have to decide to drop the whole blue riband thing and run only really big fights: i.e. no more Guerrero v. Litzau, no Inkin v. Froch, no Andrade v. Stieglitz...etc. because these are insignificant compared to Marquez v. Pacquiao...so, which one is it going to be?:think

SD counts as close UD...but we have to change that because it is unfair...

yeah i agree with what your saying there shouldnt be so much creedence [if thats a proper word] given to them just because they were the only big fights on that week

How about from now on, a split decision is scored as "draw": i.e. 50 points, rather than "close UD"...

Thus, from now on, if you think the fight is so close that either fighter can win it, (a 50/50 fight), instead of picking "draw" or going with one or the other fighter, you pick "draw/SD" - which is counted as 50 points...

The reason the current system doesn't work is that if you think both fighters are equally good and that the fight is likely to be scored a draw, it's unlikely that the judges will actually score it as a draw; instead, it's quite likely that one of the judges will give it to one or the other...

In the case of this fight, which was 50/50...it's unfortunate that no one could pick "50/50"...i.e. split decision....and no one picked "draw", because the chance of it being scored as a draw is very small and the risk/reward associated with picking "draw" under the current system is not good enough...

    So, how about it?

I'd rather we introduced this change than drop the "blue riband" system, which I think is fairer, because it allocates more points for bigger fights...
